That JvR contract was handed out alittle prematurely imo.
- stveshdy

Time will tell. He's going to have to be at least a 50 point player next year for him to start validating that contract.

BTW, Bill.. I'd be interested who you'd rate as the best all time?
- Hextall271

Either Roy or Hasek. Didn't see the pre-70s goalies, didn't see enough of Tretiak, and goalies today (technique, equipment, skating and conditioning) are better than even 25 years ago.

Your being generous. He should be a 60+ point scorer.

50 would be acceptable next year, and then build from there.

Jose Theodore standing on his head early. Devils all over the Panthers.

Panthers look terrible. Atleast they got the #3 seed.

If Jagr walks over needing room for JVR I want to see 60. Jagr just put up 50 for less money, and has been locker room gold.

Devils with 13 shots in the first 7 minutes. Series is going to be a joke.

Good picks. I normally say Brodeur and Roy just because of Cups etc.. and if you go playoff wins, and Conn Smythes..it's gotta be Roy.. even though I like Brodeur better. He admits Hextall had a big influence on him becoming a master at playing the puck...

I'm with you. He needs to produce 60+ imo.

I'm not even confident he will play 60 games next year, let alone get 60 points.

That's how game 1 of our series started though....

I don't consider the Devils to be all that great either. I honestly think this could be a 6 or 7 game series.

Exactly. So why people a few pages back were suggesting Jagr(the cheaper, proven 1st liner) will be sent packing in favor of JVR is kind of baffling to me.

He has to produce next year. His cap hit goes up significantly and expectations become greater. He should be able to get 60+ points next year, he will see plenty of time on the ice.

I have confidence that he can get 30G and 30 A.

Well Jagr at 41 is an injury risk as well. I think Voracek should be priority #1.

There's no doubt in my mind he hits 60 next year if he's healthy.

I agree. He has to take that next step and if not for injury this year I think he could of hit 60 points.

If he's healthy, and he plays with Giroux I would agree with you. He was on pace for about 25-30 goals this season.

Because JvR is a 22 year old who is developing and will get better. Jagr is a 40 year old HOFer who will likely decline, and who dealt with chronic leg injuries for a large part of the year.
