That game 7 in 2000 was as upset/mad I have ever been after a sporting event. From seething anger, to catatonic despair. That was so tough to swallow.

I'm with you Joe. I think the Flyers are going to need room for the the younger players. Although there is always the possibility that the Flyers trade some of their forward youth potentially to upgrade on defense. If that happens, there could be a spot for Jagr.

They just showed it on NBC, and holy poop did that thing come down hard and Krejci's neck got totally bent. That could have seriously broke his neck. That pane of glass weighs 120 pounds.

Athletes always say it's not about the money, by in large 99.9% of the time it is about the money. Very rarely does a player in any sport leave a red cent on the table. Could Jagr be the .01%? I highly doubt it. To be quite honest I'm not sure how much interest there will be in Jagr, so if the Flyers are bidding against themselves they could get him at a fair price.

Sure didn't help that Yankees fans spit on Lee's wife during the 2009 World Series. But Lee did take less you are correct. I believe Lee has a sick child and also was very comfortable with the folks at Chop. Extending circumstances aside, Lee is one example.

Often time these agents push the players to take every last dollar, and players more often then not do so, and end up miserable. The agent wants the player to sign for the most money period. It means more $ in their pocket.

Just finished reading the Henrik Lundqvist cover story in Sports Illustrated. While I think Lundqvist is a tremendous goaltender who will win his first Vezina this season -- and seems like a real decent person off the ice -- I thought the article was a joke.

Apparently Martin Brodeur is a "scrambling, sprawling" goalie -- gee, and for all these years we've heard his positioning and economy of motion were his greatest strengths -- who "has cause for envy" of Lundqvist and "even his compliments are sometimes freighted with sarcasm."

I mean, why wouldn't a guy whom some consider the best goaltender in NHL history (I don't, but I know full well how great he was for many, many years) be jealous? Brodeur has three Cups rings, four Vezinas and holds numerous all-time records. Lundqvist, at 30, is about to win his first Vezina and (as of now) has not been on a team that has reached the ECF round. I can see why Brodeur would secretly feel his career hasn't matched up to Lundqvist's.

The profile also helpfully informs us that shootouts are "an apt barometer of goaltending skill" and that, in game action, goalies who play far back in their crease are in better position to make saves.

The rest of the article is mostly a bunch of "I love New York" stuff, expressed about 10 different ways.

Holy crap.. sounds like garbage. I have a great deal of respect for Lundqvist, but that is just nonsense. Brodeur is right up there with Roy as two of the best all time IMO. 3 cups, Olympic Gold medal, records in the playoffs and Reg Season galore, 2 goals etc.. Lundqvist will have to play til 40 and win at least a couple cups to even be in the same convo (even though he himself has an Olympic GM).

Briere has 61 points in 57 career playoff games as a member of the Flyers. Very similar to what Eric Lindros did. 57 points in 53 games.
