It's going to be tough to focus on the game tonight with one eye on the compelling devils/panthers series.

Good points. My biggest issue is I don't think it was very fair to the linesman.

Thankfully, he wears a bus-proof vest.

3 OT games last night, that is a good night of hockey.

I would be happy with the Flyers winning tonight's game in regulation.

Will you get together with friends to watch the game tonight or watch alone? watch it at home or out somewhere?

- ggunky

tonight, a couple buddies (real fans) are coming over to watch at my place. I watched game one at a buddies house, but tonight, we're watching at my place. I can watch alone, but if someone who is a crazy cursing at the tv fanatic like me, i'd like to watch with them. Thinking of going to Xfinity live for game 4. What are you doing for the game?

I hope the Linesman don't feel the need to help the Penguins in game two, because they feel they messed up in game 1.
- Scottie Upshall

Keep an eye on the phantom offside calls tonight.

Keep the other eye on your Maalox.

Nope. His diatribe against the NHL after the Isles "head hunter" game last season saw Lemieux get no fines for his comments about the NHL.
- Jsaquella

Yeah, the Isles were fined $100k instead.

Campbell would like to also apologize to Pittsburgh, that they are the only team he apologized to. It made them look like they were favored and as such has embarrassed them. He's terribly sorry.

For game 1, I went to my Buddy's house. Tonight we do the reverse and he comes to my place.

The Wife will just hang out in another room, she isn't much of a hockey fan.

We will enjoy a couple of adult beverages this night but we don't get out of hand or anything like that.

We are alot like Lava in how we celebrated the OT winner in game 1, a solid fist pump! A high 5 or 2 and then speak about the game for the next 20 minutes.

We will break down what we thought the differences in the game were and what the turning points in the game were.

And after a win, post game is a must.

They were going to fine them both 50,000 but figured that the Isles should take care of it all

My lone issue with the Campbell apology is, quite simply, that there's blown calls in every game. Is good ol Collie going to come out after every game with a list, or will it just be apologies to the Penguins?

You can't challenge them, as Laviolette did. You can't criticize them, as Tortorella did and now, when there's a bad call, the league apologizes to them. I don;t buy that there's a conspiracy, but the NHL sure does nothing to dispel that junk.

- Jsaquella

Jsaq.. my man... you hit in on the head again.

I dont believe in conspiracies... but I absolutely believe that the NHL loves to market and protect certain teams.. the Pens are #1 in that aspect. It is a total crock.. and I would be willing to bet tonight sees the Flyers on the other end of the spectrum. I am not saying there will be a non offsides call, but they will not get the benefit of the doubt anymore.

People have to remember, Lemieux cried to the refs and dove more than Crosby ever did

I like optimism, but we have a 1-0 lead in the first round of the playoffs.

As I was watching that, and feeling the excitement/dread of the fans in those buildings, I had to think about the idea that some idiots have that shootouts are exciting. There is absolutely no comparison between the gimmick and good old playoff OT. The suddenness of the ending. The complete silence of the building in a home loss other than the sound of the celebrating visiting team's yelps of joy. The complete explosion of sound in a home victory. I love it when I'm watching it for another team. It makes my tummy hurt when I'm watching my own guys in it.

What do you guys think of Weber losing it on Zetterberg and the result of the discipline handed down? Personally, I love Weber and when he did what he did, I was picturing him in a Flyers uniform and I replaced Zetterberg with Sidney Crosby in my mind. However, Shanahan really screwed up here. That was terrible of Weber and he should miss at least one game.

I dozed off watching St Louis and San Jose last night. In my defense, I had about 8 Yuenglings at dinner and ate enough ribs to feed a small village in Bangladesh for about 3 months.

If he were a Flyer and had done that to Crosby, he'd be out for the playoffs.

What he did was stupid, premeditated, not part of a hockey play, and could have resulted in a major injury (Zetty's helmet was broken). The thing that amazed me is Detroit's complete unwillingness to grandstand. They said no injury. They didn't posture. And nothing happened as a result.

I'd gladly take a win of any kind, but it would nice to see a game more like the first one of the season series in the reg season -- the only one where the Flyers scored first (and second and third).

Pittsburgh is actually just as good of a comeback team as the Flyers are. So even if the Flyers finally manage to be one to go on top early, it's a long battle ahead. What I really don't want to hear tomorrow is obligatory and unfunny "first team to score loses" jokes or stuff about "Flyers went to the well one time too many".

All pressure is on Pittsburgh tonight. If the Flyers win, it stays on the Penguins as the series changes venue.

I dont think it was actually nearly as violent as it could have been or looked to be.. and overall, Zetterberg's hit had just as much potential for injury... with that being said, its the act that need to be punished.. He should have gotten a game.

I said it in yesterday's blog.

If I was a player agent, and my player was called in for a discipline hearing, I'm taking a video of that and showing it to Shanahan and asking, if THAT gets nothing but a fine of $2500, you can't possibly suspend my guy.

Bitz got two games for his hit. Weber should have gotten the same

The angst of every shot on your goalie or bad turnover by your team in their own end. The excitement of your team putting the pressure on in the offensive zone. Shots of the post and thinking what if!

Simply put, there is nothing better in all of sports then playoff overtime hockey.

I have said this before, if the NHL ever goes to a shootout for a playoff game, at any point in time in the OT (IE: after 2 OT periods) I will stop watching the NHL.
