Embellishing to draw a penalty call doesn't in any way disgrace the dignity, honor and sanctity of the game. It's part of the game. When a player takes his time and indirect line to get back to a puck on an icing call, does that do the same? It happens religiously, in every sport. It's been way overblown, especially when it comes to Crosby.
- MJL

I disagree with you, as well, MJL and side with jak on this one. Youre right, it is part of the game and I think embellishment( or overembellishment) to draw a call is very disrespectful and dishonorable. The Crosby play vs Jagr is the perfect illistration of how I view this. I would be embarrassed to try to draw a call by acting like that. I would be more embarassed that I allowed the guy to stop me from getting around him, but thats me. Its akin to the way I (we) percieve soccer players and how they try to draw fouls acting as if they were shot. Again, to me, it reeks of weak character, its not how I opperate.

that's not Read, is it?
Skip said Lavi but I dunno

I don't think they're Lavi's ears. I think they're the original actor's ears.

Get through the initial storm and they'll be in good shape. If they don't, I doubt Pittsburgh lets off the gas given the outcome of the last game.
- eayost

lol they let off the gas the last 5 games...they are supremely talented and ego maniacal to a fault...

YEa it is part of the sports world. Gotta say though I think its cheap too. I think it totally undermines the basic fundamental of competition. In that you go out there, give it your best and if the opponent or you yourself commit a foul then by all means a penalty should be called. But to go out of your way to sell a foul and gain an advantage, I don't like it.

I think Jagr has been playing for several weeks at the level he was early in the season, actually, although the points haven't shown it. Also, part of his production drop in the second half was due to being moved off the first PP unit to the second.

funny, timmy thought he's looked tired down the stretch.

Marc-Andre Bourdon (upper body) didn't take part in Friday's practice. Bourdon sustained the injury during Wednesday's game. He should be considered doubtful for Game 2 on Friday.

After being a healthy scratch on Wednesday, Pavel Kubina might play in Friday's contest. Marc-Andre Bourdon is dealing with an upper body injury, so the Flyers are projected to have an opening for Kubina. Kubina had 15 points and 74 penalty minutes in 69 regular season games.

They did, yes. He played some with Richards and some with Giroux. He was with Giroux during latter part of Buffalo series thru the sweep against Boston. Much of JVR's production in the Buffalo series and Games 1-2 of Boston was self-driven -- I didn't think it was particularly because he had great chemistry with Giroux.

Speaking of Giroux, Flyers need a little more from him over rest of series. Something is up with him -- lots of maintenance days, sat out final game (officially with the flu), had the hand issues that forced Hartnell to take draws for a couple games, and his production level has been not nearly as consistent in second half. I also think his defensive play has dropped off, although his faceoffs have constantly improved.

- bmeltzer

his play had definitely dropped over the second half. he's one of the "vet" leaders on this team, and it's leading scorere. he has to find a way to raise his game. the team needs him.

not crazy at all. i could see that. maybe pens press early and don't score. flyers get one chance down the other end and it goes in. then the floodgates open. i could live with that.

I think the Flyers are marketed in a big way, though that market is already captured. The Penguins get the attention they do for having the face of the sport for their captain.

What really bugs me is the inclusion of a goal against the Flyers in EVERY damn NHL commercial

- BulliesPhan87

it is the bane of my existence. they even get scored on in fantasy scenarios like the airport tarmac game against washington in 09-10. emery gets scored on with the bulldozer behind him acting as the goal. seriousl, gmafb.

As Crosby would say... "If you aint cheatin, you aint trying."

Crosby is a fan of Distric 5: "Take the fall, Act hurt, Get Indignant!"

Crosby is a cake eater.

Wasn't to off base. I can recall Emery starting the game that the Flyers lost 8-2 to the Capitals.

In years past I would go out to the local watering hole to watch the game, my wife wasn't much of a fan. Then DTV ticked me off so I went back to comcast and started staying home for games. Well wife soon became a hockey fan, heck she probably knows the players on other teams by name better than I do, it's crazy.
Now that she's a big fan of it and my kids are growning interest I gotta say, staying home to watch it in HD is almost as much fun as going to the game for me.
No waiting in line for the Bathroom, babies are crying, can just pause and rewind to catch what I missed. Furthermore me and my wife don't get to go out anywhere like we used to so, the games are almost like a minidate for us.

- JoeRussomanno

i think i enjoy staying home now more than going to the game, except for the playoffs. i find almost everything about the arena experience to be annoying, stale, and overpriced. giving up my 1/4 season next year. saving myself the $ and aggravation.
