I feel like we often hear statements like this from players who've gone on to explore FA.

i think they do market the flyers

they're on NBC all the time

not to mention they held the Winter Classic here
HBO
etc

- Crimsoninja

Okay I guess what I'm getting at is the white glove type marketing that the Penguins get. Like Bill said, when did they ever apologize to the Flyers for a blown call? I doubt there's a conspiracy to make the Penguins win this, but darn there was blown calls that went both ways with the same result.

I'd call it fashionably late, i.e. the best kind

I think the Flyers are marketed in a big way, though that market is already captured. The Penguins get the attention they do for having the face of the sport for their captain.

What really bugs me is the inclusion of a goal against the Flyers in EVERY damn NHL commercial

- BulliesPhan87

That's another thing, the Flyers are still in a subtle way portrayed as the villians. It's cool in a way, but when the league is apologizing to one team about a screw up that happened to both teams in the same game, without apologizing to the other, then that's not right.

howbout Mike Smith turning his career around and becoming quite the monster goalie now!

I remember peeps talking about wanting us to acquire him back in the day when he sucked.

He's on the JAGS poster.

I confused Han for Luke on the Star Wars one and then the site was all wonky and I couldn't delete. Embarrassing.

Lloyd: I'll bet you twenty bucks I can get you gambling before the end of the day!
Harry: No way!
Lloyd: I'll give you three to one odds.
Harry: No.
Lloyd: Five to one.
Harry: No.
Lloyd: Ten to one?
Harry: You're on!
Lloyd: I'm gonna get ya!
Harry: Nuh uh!
Lloyd: I don't know how, but I'm gonna get ya.

Just goes to show, you play defensive hockey in front of a goalie, they can look a lot better.

I kind of agree. It's not the worst thing to ever happen, and I don't think there's a fix in, but it rubs me the wrong way. I have big doubts there'd be such an apology if the scenario were reversed.

Oh well, I look forward to the apology the Flyers provoke when the NHL has to explain for the Penguins being eliminated in round one

However, the Flyers are still awaiting their apology (or at least plausible explanation) for the blown first-period icing call. Oh and while the NHL is an apologetic mood, Philadelphia's wait for a league apology is now 22 years and counting for the non-calls on Denis Potvin's blatantly high-sticked goal and even more blatant offside committed on Brent Sutter's goal in Game 6 of the 1980 Stanley Cup Final. -BMeltzer

Drives me a little nuts, too, when he tries to stickhandle around three guys at the blueline.

His locker room loss would be huge if he moved on. I think people underestimate that. Part of the reason why this team has started to believe that it's never out of a game is Jagr's influence. The young players love the positive reinforcement he gives them, the older players admire his work ethic and never-dying hunger to be a difference-maker.

- bmeltzer

He is an inspiring guy. Coming into the season there was a question about his influence on other players (would it be good or bad). He has gone way beyond expectations of those that felt it would be positive. A true success story of the season. Even if we don't win it all this year (I have modest expectations myself) his leadership this year could serve as a huge boost to this young group over the next 2 years (even if he doesn't play for us).
