Every time I've ever seen JVR on the same line as Giroux, they seem to get in each other's way a lot. I think the problem is that both guys play better with the puck on their stick than hitting the seams and receiving the puck.

i could be wrong, but didnt they play together some during the playoffs last year?

I still see him forcin his way into the zone and trying to make plays that he made when in his prime. He looks good except for the finish an given out depth, might be better to move on. I wouldn't be disappointed either way, however.
- funmaster18

Drives me a little nuts, too, when he tries to stickhandle around three guys at the blueline.

His locker room loss would be huge if he moved on. I think people underestimate that. Part of the reason why this team has started to believe that it's never out of a game is Jagr's influence. The young players love the positive reinforcement he gives them, the older players admire his work ethic and never-dying hunger to be a difference-maker.

That probably does play a huge part but the Flyers would still have to find the right number that fits both sides.

What if they offered him around 2.8-3M

They did, yes. He played some with Richards and some with Giroux. He was with Giroux during latter part of Buffalo series thru the sweep against Boston. Much of JVR's production in the Buffalo series and Games 1-2 of Boston was self-driven -- I didn't think it was particularly because he had great chemistry with Giroux.

Speaking of Giroux, Flyers need a little more from him over rest of series. Something is up with him -- lots of maintenance days, sat out final game (officially with the flu), had the hand issues that forced Hartnell to take draws for a couple games, and his production level has been not nearly as consistent in second half. I also think his defensive play has dropped off, although his faceoffs have constantly improved.

I agree. In order for the Flyers to advance in this Series, they need a lot more from Giroux and the top line in particular. I didn't think Jagr was very good in game 1 either.

Absolutely.. all though it is fantastic to think that G's line was far below where they are capable of playing.. and yet we spotted Pitt a 3 goal lead and still won!

I've only heard him say that he wants to play another year, is happy he signed here and has really enjoyed it but that he has no idea where he'll be next season and that there are factors beyond his control (presumably his projected role and salary cap space) that have to be discussed after the season.
- bmeltzer

Jagr signed a one-year, $3.3 million contract before the season. He would like to sign another one-year deal with the Flyers.

"I don't think it's going to be a problem - because, from my side, I'm happy," he told reporters after the morning skate. "I like this team too much. I don't want to go anywhere."

Something I don't get. I see people mentioning on the earlier pages about the NHL wanting market certain teams, which I agree with, Why is it they seem to go out of their way to avoid that with the Flyers? I mean the Flyers have to be one of the top 5 in terms of largest fanbases/markets. Okay in the 70's and early 80's they were the scourge of the league I get that but haven't they come a long way from those days.? They are totally different team from where they were just 10-15 years ago. Claude Giroux, Danny Briere, JAGR!, Timmonen etc. are all posterboy types, I don't get why the need to extend that treatment so damn much to the Penguins.

I feel like we often hear statements like this from players who've gone on to explore FA.

I think the Flyers are marketed in a big way, though that market is already captured. The Penguins get the attention they do for having the face of the sport for their captain.

What really bugs me is the inclusion of a goal against the Flyers in EVERY damn NHL commercial

I have no doubt he really likes it here, either. I just think he also knows he'd enjoy himself with another team that'd show a big commitment, and there'll be teams out there to offer it after seeing him play this season.

tonight, a couple buddies (real fans) are coming over to watch at my place. I watched game one at a buddies house, but tonight, we're watching at my place. I can watch alone, but if someone who is a crazy cursing at the tv fanatic like me, i'd like to watch with them. Thinking of going to Xfinity live for game 4. What are you doing for the game?
- flyersfan51

In years past I would go out to the local watering hole to watch the game, my wife wasn't much of a fan. Then DTV ticked me off so I went back to comcast and started staying home for games. Well wife soon became a hockey fan, heck she probably knows the players on other teams by name better than I do, it's crazy.
Now that she's a big fan of it and my kids are growning interest I gotta say, staying home to watch it in HD is almost as much fun as going to the game for me.
No waiting in line for the Bathroom, babies are crying, can just pause and rewind to catch what I missed. Furthermore me and my wife don't get to go out anywhere like we used to so, the games are almost like a minidate for us.

Indeed, I think that it's worth noting which team is the only other to participate in two.
