you left out how he would shoot the puck on goal from the other end of the ice, one of my favorite Prongerisms

I liked the rainbows he left in his wake.

So you think Suter wont ask for 6.5-7M per year? He wants to get paid as well.
- stveshdy

Salary wise, Suter is going to command much higher then that.

I've only heard him say that he wants to play another year, is happy he signed here and has really enjoyed it but that he has no idea where he'll be next season and that there are factors beyond his control (presumably his projected role and salary cap space) that have to be discussed after the season.

Bill do you think Jagr is worth that cap hit next season?

Yeah, Jagr is on record saying this. I had thought Bill mentioned it on one of his blogs as well...
- hereticpride

The only thing I have heard (at least firsthand) Jagr say about salary is that it's not so much the amount itself but the demonstration of commitment from an organization. But that doesn't mean he'll accept a paycut. When I heard him say it, in was in reference to a bigger picture of ice time and role with a team; the more substantial the financial commitment, the more obvious a team wants a player to play a significant role.

Not for what he makes now. Price cut and I think about it, though I have my concerns about his effectiveness next year. If he comes back I'd like to see him off the first line. I'd like to give Giroux someone who can be a threat every night. I think Jagr is slowing down and might not be the best option next year.

And he still have 1 more year after this. That was HUGE for Nashville. Now they have time to resign him.

Yes, if he can produce another 50-55 point season. You also have to figure in his locker room influence, which has been a huge positive on both young players and fellow vets. I have a feeling that next year will be his final NHL season, then he will play his long-promised final season with Kladno (joking that since he owns the team, the coach will have to play him).

Well in order to get a Cap hit in that range, it's going to take a long term deal with low years on the back end to lower the Cap hit. Take a look at what Erhoff's salary is this year and next?

I'm with you because I dont think hes worth that cap hit heading into next season. He would have to take less to re-sign here imo.

I understand that. Im just saying that Suter's cap hit will be around that number of 6.5-7M per year

hard to talk commitment to a player who is going to be on the plus side of 40 years old next year....

I think more so then if he is worth it, is the role he is expected to play. The Flyers will undoubtedly push Couturier and Schenn into bigger roles. I see it being very difficult to fit him in Cap wise.

I don't know. It could be lower or significantly higher depending on the type of deal.

Next year the first line will be Hartnell/G/Jvr

If Jagr is resigned he seems to have some mojo with Briere... although so does Simmonds and Schenn

Absolutely. And Couturier and Schenn both with expanded roles on scoring lines.

I think Jagr has been playing for several weeks at the level he was early in the season, actually, although the points haven't shown it. Also, part of his production drop in the second half was due to being moved off the first PP unit to the second.
