I wouldn't be a paperclip on Pronger's health, and simply having Pronger doesn't replace Carle's ability to move the puck.

If Pronger was able to return, I'd be more likely to move Meszaros and try to keep Carle.

- Jsaquella

IMO Pronger is 100X the puck mover Carle is. That being said, as long as Carle signs for 5.5 or less AND Pronger comes back, then yes dealing Meszaros would be an option.

So... is this one of those playoff games where the Flyers will have to withstand the first 10 minutes and then counterattack or will they try to get on the board first and take the crowd out of the game?
- Flyskippy

I said earlier that I dont want them to try and "weather" a storm, but create a storm of thier own. Trying to "weather" the storm last time got them behind 0-3.

The numbers I gave is already based on the cap being raised from $62,897,500 to $64,300,000
- stveshdy

We need to be careful. The cap could go up this summer and then back down in september cuz of new CBA. Free agency may be a little more quieter this year.

The latter!

Would love to see the Flyers play a proactive game. Take it to the Pens just like they did in the latter portion of Game 1.

Pronger is a solid puck mover, but Carle's better. He's also a faster skater, which can cover for Pronger's declining foot speed.

And yes, Pronger returning and keeping Carle would be a condition to trading Meszaros. It'd be really hard to keep all three...although I'd be stunned if Pronger returns

Thats a hell of a paycut. I think Kubina may get more than 1M.
- stveshdy

I dont think so... Look at McCabe. He might find himself not on anyone's team if he out prices himself.

McCabe also wanted to play in Florida or New York, which limited his signability.

There will always be bad calls, for and against the flyers.

I think what is disgusting is when one player is targeted. This year, it is Rindaldo. Last year, it was Car-Bomb.

Carcillo deserved some of the attention, but you still need to call the game fair. Rinaldo is penalized for simply showing up.

Overall, the Flyers are not a big physical team anymore. Even Simmonds is slight.

Lets just hope the rest of the series is called somewhat fairly. Let the players decide the game.

Voracek RFA - 3M
Carle UFA - 3.5M or walk
Kubina UFA - 1.5M or walk
Jagr UFA - 2M
Bourdon RFA 1M

Done

- Manitobakid

Jagr won't take a paycut to stay here, nor should he. The same $3.3 M he got this year MIGHT do it on another one year.

Carle at $3.5 M would be a less than $100,000 cap hit increase and, if cap hit matched salary, an actual pay CUT from the $3.8 M the team paid him this year. Obviously, that's not happening.

Kubina is going to have to take a significant paycut wherever he goes, but not a 60 percent pay cut.

Voracek will be a tough negotiation for the 2nd straight year. I do think he'll end up going to about $3.25 M.

Bourdon sounds about right.

Johnny Oduya. He wont be as good as Carle but hes the defenseman to target. He obviously has his strengths and weaknesses but the Flyers need to find someone who can skate the puck.

The boys shouldn't be thinking about or worrying about how to weather the storm. They need to think about what they can control which is coming out this game ready to play. They need to be all over the Pens and score the first goal. Give the pens more reason to doubt themselves. Look if Crosby said the Flyers did nothing to surprise him, then to me that means in the back of his mind he thinks/knows the Flyers are better. First Brooks says the Flyers are afraid, now Crosby says this, the pens have serious doubts about being able to handle the Flyers. Bring it strong and just crush them. Hit them ever chance they get, shoot the puck every chance and beat them down.

I'm going to stay optomistic, just like I was for the Meszaros injury, and hope for the best. Last I heard was Pronger was starting to feel a little better, and he said he will definately be back next year.

I felt like him at the end of the first period.
Thankfully there were 2 more periods to the game!

Did you see him behind the glass taunting Lavi when we were losing?

What a jagoff. His tears make me smile.

I think he's going to want a deal similar to Wisniewski, perhaps with a bit more cash.

Im against that kind of deal. Wisniewski and Ehroff are perfect examples of why I dont overpay for free agents. Neither improved the current team they played for.
