I agree, it's going to make an interesting off-season discussion about what you do will all this depth, and the defense and cap, ect... But we have a Cup to win now. Cant wait to get JVR back.

Is anyone else scared of Kubina and Lilja paired together? SOoooooooo slooowwww.
- Deasr1

I dont know... Its tough.. I cant blame Gorssmann or Coburn for any of the goals last game, and they have been great together before that. Timonen and Carle also look real good together. If MAB is not playing, who knows.... Do you slit Timonen and carle up and play Timonen on this natural side with Kubina, and Carle with Lilja? It make the top 4 d-men weaker, but makes the top 6 more balanced... Or do you roll like Wednesday and limit the time on ice for the 3rd pairing... tough decision and I think it depends on if Kubina is hurt.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing or debating a subject. I enjoy the debates with you. And I encourage you to offer a different opinion if that's the way you feel. It's what should happen. I respect your opinion on the diving issue. I just feel it's part of the game and no big deal.

I want you to know that that was not directed to you in any way. I get frustrated sometimes, but i know when to let things go. I know you have your opinions.. and I have mine.. if we didnt there wouldnt be a forum.

And for the record.. there is not a single person on this site.. and that includes Bill and Eklund... who I would go to before you when it comes to cap related issues.

I think I must be missing something because it seemed to me that in the 30 games Gus played, he outplayed MAB, Kubina and Lilja. I believe Gus was a +12 in those 30 games.

lots of craziness so far.. .

-the blown calls in flyers/pens game 1 that directly led to each team scoring
-the glass falling on krejci
-the yotes having too many men on the ice for their 2nd goal

JVR... Don't expect JVR from the Boston series. He's just coming off injury - probably slow and out of peak playoff shape. The only reason to bring him back in this round is to get him ready for the second round - assuming we make it out of this round.

So, who gets sent down? The only options are Wellwood or Rinaldo. I don't think Rinaldo will sit - they need his grit... Wellwoods speed has been nice, but not needed with Read, Giroux, Briere.

Hartnell - Giroux - Jagr
Schenn - Briere - Simmonds
JVR - Couturier - Voracek
Talbot - Read - Rinaldo

Won't be announced until Phantoms are done. Their playoff fate rests on what happens this weekend.

It's so amazing what ends up being a serious injury. It looks so innocuous except for his reaction at the time. I mean, no pouring blood on the ice. No incapacitation. And yet it's a really serious one.

The black aces are the minor leaguers who travel with the team in case of injury.

Has to be some reason Gus was sent down, and MAB was kept.

In that case I would bet it would be:
Holmstrom, Harry Z, Brown on offense

Gus, Manning, Bartulis on D

and Leighton in goal.

I understand the frustration and also why I might frustrate you or others. Thanks for the words. And it's the same in other areas, which is why I contacted you personally for that personal issue I was having.

I'm interested to see how Kubina fares. If its the Kubina we saw the last few games, well probably see his minutes low, but if he can be the guy he was when he arrived, I think it's a big upgrade. If Kubina is indeed hurt or fallen out of favor, why not try Gus tonight?
- funmaster18

I don't think that the Coaches like the physical apsects that Gustafsson brings. How Kubina fares will certainly be an area to watch for.

It depends on Kubina's health. And I don't see Lilja as being slow at all. He regularly moves up on the play, or to make a hit, and is rarely out of position.

As much as I like Gustafsson, I thought "What if he were in Game 1 instead of MAB?" It wasn't pretty, what I thought as an answer.

Gustafsson is not a good enough puck mover or offensive contributor to make up for his lack of physical play.

I like Gustafsson's mobility though. Although he does tend to get pounded on and isn't a big guy to begin with.

Agreed totally about JVR. They don't need to send anyone down. No roster restrictions in the playoffs.
