Gauthier was a disconnected french speaking Vermonter.

Houle was just a mistake. I mean, him and Tremblay being given these jobs was just something you can't explain. I don't know what Ronald Corey was thinking.

Some of the most qualified candidates this year speak French, language is not an issue IMO for the GM.

Brisebois
Bergevin
Savard himself if he brings experienced AGM who know the players well
Robitaille (not so sure)
McGuire (hate him)

how about Dubnyk and our first round pick for subban and price
- rigger2.0

How about Campoli's rights...highly valuable, Kaberle and the 3rd pick for your 1st?

I don't think Robitaille is a good candidate, because he mainly has been given business responsibilities in hockey since he hung up his skates.

And in a TV interview he stated the Habs needed to have more homegrown people in a management role, especially with the likelyhood of a team in QC.

Believe whatever the (frank) you want.

Savard made it seem like he wants a French guy who was born and raised in Quebec. And that is certainly the media expectation now, too.

french, english...whatever. one thing looks pretty certain, whoever the g.m. and coach is, they won't have any experience in their jobs at the nhl level. that should be the bigger story. not the language.

My money would be n Brisebois, AGM with tampa as the new GM. He will bring a few guys like carriere, carbonneau to 2nd him as AGM

to me he's the candidate i like the least. the guy has zero connections, zero experience evaluating talent and is a capologist. he's the kind of guy you add to a management group. not run one.

I don't think so, his connection to the past group is going to weigh against him.

I'd guess Bergevin.

Agreed, I think most of the names we hear are being leaked to make the search seem thorough, we'll see how wide spread it was. I was surprised to hear Gagnon say McGuirre was a leading candidate.

Fans know so little about any of the candidates I think all the specualtion is hilarious. In fact the one guy we know the most about is the guy it seems most people hate.

Not saying it would be 100% sure of happening again, but back when the Habs were lead by "québécois", the team was winning Stanley Cups....just saying...
- stinger67

Plenty of great english players on those teams too, although, im sure you would rather not think about that...

I don't really like Mcguire, but my Hatred for Gagnon surpasses it.

Can't stand his constant whining.

I hate him with a passion but the biggest whiny female dog is Bertrand Raymond, that guy should have retired.

When you think about, we aren't really lucky with the coverage we have of hockey.

Gagnon whines a lot but I have more respect for him than Rejean Tremblay, Bertrand Raymond and Gaston Therrien who turn everything about the Habs to politics, it's ridiculous and it works. They are behind the constant whining about Conneyworth being named interim coach.

Yeah Gagnon is more professionnal.

What's funny is Gaston Therrien is always stepping away from the controverse saying that it's the journalists and not him who started the fuzz.

Ditto for Yannick and Fred from the 5à7.

but all he talks about is this Frenchie did this right or this one is the best. According to G.Therrien, more French players = better team. I am all for local content as long as it's not at the detriment of talent and hard work. People want Quebec stars, not 4th line plugs or 7th D's.

of course, it always takes a good mix

It's just that I'm (frank)ing tired of people saying that having french players/managers is an automatic fail.
