Picking the Pens is the glamour pick, i said it last night on Twitter. It's the easy pick. Why pick the Flyers?
the media goes with the favorites...it's an easy sell.

Yep. I dont gamble, but a buddy of mine told me that the Vegas line had the Flyers as the biggest underdogs (ie biggest odds) in the whole Playoffs. Made no sense to me (or him). He bet a lot on the flyers.

the flower did seem skittish i agree

loved how they just kept dumping it in.. felt like Fleury had to play the puck like 50 times...and each time seemed shakier than the next. he'll make a mistake sooner than later

also, schenn is so fun to watch

- Crimsoninja

i would like to see the flyers try to get their dump-ins high along the boards or on the glass, and force him to stay in the net or gamble trying to coral a puck that could bounce out in front. they just kept laying it in along the ice softly giving him an easy time. he did appear to get a git skittish later in the game. it's because he knew they were going to blow it.

I loved your reply to Wyshynski last night about beating the horses carcass.
He has Penguin bias, no?

- DONMURDOCH14

Not really, but if you're going to troll a fanbase, don't puss out when they come back at you.

He was joking about the off-sides call that wasn't and then got bothered that people were chirping him. Sorry, Chet. You wanna troll then deal with the feedback.

I think Schenn is -- and will continue to be -- a player who is very effective when he plays with a nasty physical side to his game and has his feet moving but looks very ordinary when he tries to get fancy. Last night was Schenn's A game.

Side note: I consider myself to be pretty level-headed. But I have to admit that the snarky digs at the Flyers from U.S. and Canadian media guys on Twitter got under my skin a bit -- "yeah, that Grossmann-Coburn pairing out there against Crosby is going to work real well for Philly,", "Vicious crosscheck to Crosby's head after he scored -- I see where this is going", "Typical Flyers playoff goaltending," "Penguins 3 - Linesman 1".

Funny how those same guys stopped commenting on the game when the Flyers came all the way back to win.

Where were the corresponding "Not sure why icing washed out there, and it led to a goal -- tough break for Philly," "typical Flyers resiliency", "Grossmann really stuffed Crosby there," "Rookie Couturier is totally shutting down Hart Trophy shoo-in Malkin tonight," "Bryzgalov has settled in", "Fleury starting to look rattled -- shades of 2010 and 2011 playoffs?" comments later on in the evening?

I thought McKenzie and Dreger's in-game tweets were fair and accurate. Many of the other guys, not so much.

it's parallel to what happens here. read the comments in ek's blog from yesterday. identical. and crickets when the flyers came back to win and suddenly there's chatter about the canucks game.

you should meltz those media hacks.

My point on all of this is don't go around saying you have grown up and then still put on the acting show.
I understand he's selling it but don't try to state to everyone that you have outgrown it and it's blatant that you haven't. I would expect no less from a star player...

- phi1671

I'm not ignoring the hypocrisy, just saying that if I knew the refs would give me a call if I threw my head back a bit, I'd do it, too.

If one wants to be bothered by Crosby saying he doesn't cry or embellish, I won't even argue that, because he does cry and embellish...not as much as he used to, but he still does.

The same linesman blew the Briere offsides and the icing.

Both were pretty egregious. He was very late in waving off the icing, and was badly out of position on the off sides play.

Still odd that the Flyers odds are longer than those of the Caps or Senators.

I just read Adam Proteau's recap and I wonder if he was watching the same game I did.

Bryz was shaky? No, the Flyers were bad in front of him. I can't blame him for any of the 3 Pens' tallies. Breakdowns, turnovers and poor execution got them in that hole.

And of course, while the blown off sides call is prominently mentioned, the blown icing call doesn't merit a mention.

Glad I don't tweet. I get enough in this place. Regarding last nights comeback. Even @ 3-0 I felt if Brzy could stop the bleeding and the Flyers could pot one they'd have a chance.

Great comeback, great win. Now lets go out there and play 60 minutes.

I rather like them not being media darlings and favorites. And the more dumps the media takes on them, the more pleasure they get from winning.

I had no doubt that they'd make a game out of it last night. Hell I even confident that they'd get it tied, if not win it. They've been a great comeback team all year long. They've given no reason to doubt their resiliency and no reason to give up on them when there's an early hole to climb out of.

I mean, we'd all love it if they'd go out and lead tape to tape and get a 5-0 win. But, at the same time, you have to know by now that they're not going to stop skating, working and fighting.

What's a shame is that Stickle was an excellent linesman over a long career. He didn't miss many calls. But he'll forever be known for the one he badly blew in 1980. He also manned up and openly admitted missing the Gillies-to-Goring offside that resulted in Sutter's goal -- and feeling awful about it after seeing a replay.

It is satisfying to see some media assclowns get their comeuppance. As much as it would be nice to see the Flyers get a bit of credit, it's almost as nice to see a blowhard get a nice big ol cup of STFU

Bryz is going to be 'shaky' because that's the easy write-up. It has been for 25 years. I'm done getting bent out of shape over it; it's easier to ignore the scribes, for the most part. If I want to read quality articles about the Flyers, I know where to turn.

I love it. It makes the victories that much better. Watching the spin by the "experts" is awesome. It just proves they don't know what they are talking about.
