Once they got through that first period with no calls, the whistles should have just stayed in their pockets unless something outrageous happened.
- Flyers2821

The Penguins sold every contact. The calls on Giroux and Jagr were direct results of Orpik and Crosby embellishing. There would have been no call on Giroux had Orpik not stayed down. And Crosby's head toss when Jagr interfered with him was the kid of stuff he did as a rookie that he says he's outgrown.

I usually don't rip on Crosby. I think he's a stellar player. But he was trying to sell calls last night.

Great win last night. The last 2 periods looked like a team destined for a long playoff run. First period, not so much. The flyers need to be ready to play Friday, because Pitt is going to come hard. I think the pens largely spent themselves in the first period, both physically and emotionally. That played in the flyers favor. I'm not discounting the flyers effort, but I think the pens had a drop off after such a big first period.

The Flyers are in a great position and they need to really keep their foot on the gas and send this back to Philly 2-0.

Last night showed that regardless of officiating, the game is won on the ice. The flyers were up to every challenge last night.

Crosby is a fraud. That kind of embellishment is a joke. Play the game the right way and stop acting like every time you get touched your being shot. I cant respect a player like that. I like Crosby also but the game doesnt need that garbage.

Yea I agree, I bash Crosby cause I can't stand the way he carries himself on the ice. Last night was just more proof of that. He is a tremendous talent and I respect that talent tremendously, but to have the "face of the league" carrying himself the way he does on the ice just rubs me the wrong way!

if the flyers embellished anything like the pens were consistently doing last night the league would reestablish the diver's club or whatever that thing they did for 2 hours and forgot about after they realized cindy is the biggest diver

Despite the slow start last night being a repeat of the last 1/4 of the season, I have chosen to overlook it in yesterdays game. I think the Flyers came out strong in their first shift (18-28-68) but from there I think the fact that it was the rooks (1/4 of the team) first exposure to that kind of atmosphere and the Penguins were clearly feeding off the crowd... it is not a concern for me.

It will be if it happens again tomorrow though.

I disagree with that. It's frustrating to see, but some of the greatest players in Flyers history were every bit as bad-if not worse-than Crosby in trying to sell calls.

Bill Barber was gold medal worthy. I just get miffed when the refs buy an obvious embellishment and make a borderline call in a game where they're really letting them play.

that's all ancient history to me. when was the last time bill barber even laced up skates? the fact is the league absolutely panders to cindy and the peng-wines and screws the flyers over every chance they get. that's the reality i see. maybe it's not 100% correct, but that's my opinion and how i see things

Last night was such an emotional roller coaster ride.

We have seen this teams fight all year and again last night.

Danny Briere, playoff stud.

Bryz's glove save on a turnover that left a pen all alone out in front was the turning point in the game.

Bryz was rock solid last night and exactly what this team needs.

Simply pointing out that there's a guy who has a banner hanging in the Wells Fargo Center who embellished quite a lot, and who was criticized or it during his playing days, much like Crosby is now.

Guys are trying to get an edge. The key is for the refs to ignore the bullpoop and not give them the calls. Then the acting ends.

Any chance the Flyers dress another forward over Rinaldo? I dont mind having him in the lineup but anything he does turns into a penalty.

Pretty amazing Schenn's first playoff game was his best game as a pro. As others pointed out he also made that tremendous stretch pass to Jagr that led to a breakaway. He could have had a four point night. He was also very physical and played with an edge.

Well said. Orpik should've gotten two. Neal went down pretty easily too. That's the crap that pisses me off. Crosby is a helluva player with a work ethic second to none but the whining and diving make him easy to dislike.

Voracek should have got an assist on his GWG. His backhand led to the game winner.
