You know.
I will be honest. I am at fault to a degree but this board has gone downhill the last few seasons. Compared to the first couple years when I joined.
Very little personality left, so robotic, and people obsessed with proving that they are right. - flyer_nutter

I think driving is a good example of that. I just love people that have to pull out and race ahead of you only to turn right at the next light. Oooooh you're a genius for getting around goody two shoes, speed limit obeying little me so you can get to where you're going 10 seconds sooner. Sheesh. - rockychocbill
You got me there. I am usually someone that speeds. I however never cut people off or tailgate. I hate people who do that. I will pass or go in another lane. At the same time when 40 year old CEO is going 40 in a 60 because he is on his cell phone I get annoyed.
Driving is my yoga. Relaxation. |

That last part is scarily too true. IMo I think the difference is the newer generations don't understand the meaning of working for what you get. I see other parents getting their kids the newest cellphones, ipads etc. I see young kids throwing themselves on the floor in target cause mom won't buy the toy they want and then the parent caves in. Those practices imo instills a sense of entitlement. Even when my own kids complain, kindly remind them, when I was your age your grandparents had me cutting grass, pulling weeds, splitting stacking firewood, yes I did all that by the age of 10. When I see a 12 year old kid sit on the porch while grandmom cuts the grass, that makes me shake my head. I guess what I'm saying is the raising of young people imo has taken a drastic change and I don't think it's for the best. - JoeRussomanno
+1 on all of that Joe. I have 18 and 16 year old boys. While they are well behaved, it's like pulling teeth to get them to do almost anything around the house as simple as washing some dishes (dishwasher does the bulk of it even) or vacuuming. I try to keep an even keel though. They have WAYYYY more distractions than we did at their age and it chews up time like jelly beans. In some ways I wish I would have had what they have when I was their age, but most of the time I'm grateful for having played kick the can, road hockey and delivering newspapers on my banana seat bike. |

He posted the base photo, asked if someone could put a Flyer jersey on it for a logo, Pixote Andolini (our resident graphic artist) took care of him. We're one big happy (ahem) family. |

There is a lot more to life that arguing and proving you are right, young padawan.
But.. I did choose the name "nutter" on here for a reason haha. - flyer_nutter

Of course? And someone unwisely criticized ggunky early yesterday questioning that being his "only" contribution. First of all, he does post other things. But most importantly, that is his role on this team. And he plays it with passion and grit! - bodiva88

It was a much better place here about 3 years ago... Its frustrating how the fun has been sucked out of here.
This used to be a place where Flyers fans came to chat and pass time.. communicate during games, and share (respectfully, and without condescending tones) opinions. Now everything is a (frank)ing argument. Poster A cant say ___ about player B without Poster B feeling the need to chime in. Guys have axes to grind with certain posters and its tough to enjoy this place.
I remember when OB18, FF16, Butsy, Lukin, and a bunch of others were here. That was a fine group! - jak521

I would contend it isn't just the newer generations that have entitlement issues. I wouldn't say you're wrong otherwise, though. |

Watch the bottom of the screen when Briere and Schenner hop over the boards. Looks like a mirror image (especially their legs)! |

And they'll love you for it more when it pays off as they get older, trust me! Stay the course, Rocky! I got friends pushing 40 who live at home and no college degree or nothing, (i'm not bashing people for having to move home either, plz don't take this out of context, I understand the economy is tough out there) by doing what you;re doing it should be instilling a sense of drive and responsibility in them,. I know it did me.
Oh and kick the can and road hockey are the best! These kids don;t know what they are missing! |

No it didn't just start with this one can't fault you for the objection. Probably did start with the baby boomers but, they at least paid their dues is all I'm saying and can only speak from personal observation. |

Arguing in "those days" was more cordial, for sure, because there were more open minds. Those arguments were about discovering truth. Now it's about ego and proving one's self right.
That's my perception anyway. YMMV. |

Arguing isn't debating, or discussing. It's annoying. |
