Your right, also you have to think that if he got a game and zett didnt get anything then its ok to bait someone and get them knocked out for a game. I like how Shanny checked to see if he was hurt and when he found out he wasnt, he just gave webbs a slap on the wrist. I think of Zettiburg was hurt he would have gave webs a game

to anyone who thinks the briere goal was a break and dupuis' goal was legit: would the icing have been cancelled like that had the flyers iced the puck against the penguins in the same exact scenario?

also, what legit reason was the basis for the linesman waiving off the icing? no flyer was near it but took an alternative route to a make it seem like an icing, bryzgalov didn't play the puck, it clearly wasn't a pass that just bounced over a guy's stick, it certainly had enough steam on it to cross the goal line. what possible reason could there have been other than to screw the flyers and aid the peng-wines?

- flyerscup2011

I am reminded of Game 6 in 2000 vs. the Devils where Berube clearly touched the puck before the Devils' defenseman, but icing was called. The ensuing faceoff led to a goal by Claude Lemieux. The Flyers lost that game and the next one (along with Lindros), blowing their 3-1 series lead.

So Bourdon is day-to-day, and was really shakey in the game. Kubina is in, and like Bill said I am not thrilled about him pairing with Lilja... What do you guys think...

Carle-Kubina
Timonen-Lilja
Grossmann-Coburn

I think they had Kubina playing with Timonen a few shifts, they were OK.
That was before Kubina was hurt, though.

Leaves Carle with Lilja which isn't bad either.

I think when its crunch time the top four will get more minutes.

so that shadily washed out icing goal was less of a break than briere's??? it's even steven! yes i do feel like the flyers get shafted in many (NOT ALL, I DON'T EVEN COMMENT DURING EVERY GAME) games, because what i objectively see is bad calls consistently going against the flyers. once this stops, i will stop complaining. also, 95% of my complaints are legit
- flyerscup2011

I'm cool with calling it even. So then the players decided who won, not the officials. As far as the rest, that's a matter of opinion. And really proves my point.

So double shift Timonen and Carle....

Carle-Timonen
Grossmann-Coburn
Timonen-Kubina
Carle-Lilja

i think it was lilja's fault for making the wrong read. the two forwards were going to staal and he was the only one with the angle to cover kennedy, he failed to read the play properly and bryz made a poor read as well.
- flyerscup2011

Bryzgalov didn't make the wrong read at all. And neither did Lilja. The Forwards coming back weren't going to get to Kennedy. You can make an argument that he should take away the pass and leave the Goalie one on one with the shooter. But if that happened and the Staal scored, Lilja would have still been criticized. Like I said, caught between a rock and a hard place.

i think a significant alleviating factor is that zetterberg had just checked his head into the boards.
- flyerscup2011

It made no difference that Keith was retaliating for an elbow by Daniel Sedin. Only difference here was that the recipient wasn't injured in the retaliation. Actually, being a retaliatory play is supposed to NEGATIVELY figure in the ruling, because it shows intent to injure. When Shanahan explained his Keith ruling, he cited it being blatantly retaliatory as part of his reasoning behind the ruling.

There is not to supposed to be a "he had it coming" defense, even though we all know that certain players and situations bring down retaliations. In theory, but not reality, it's supposed to be the refs (and league) that mete out justice.

I would leave them as they are and insert Kubina in place of MAB.

You know.

I will be honest. I am at fault to a degree but this board has gone downhill the last few seasons. Compared to the first couple years when I joined.

Very little personality left, so robotic, and people obsessed with proving that they are right.
