What do you think would happen to Rinaldo if he pulled what Shea Weber did against Crosby
- Just5

Weber needs to be suspended at least a game.
That was terrible.

I know Zetterberg initiated it too, but it was still bad.

If that had been anyone other than Nashville's likely Norris Trophy finalist defenseman -- say, Klein or Bouillon instead of Weber -- I think Shanahan would have issued a suspension and not just a fine.

They said on the radio (I was on my way home at the time) that Jags was at the end of a long shift at that point. Anyone recall if that was the case?
- rockychocbill

I don't know but that weird little wave he gave at the end was odd

Bryz was solid IMO. Great effort by Crosby on the 1st and nothing he could have done on it. Second was a 2 on 1 and Fruitbat one timed it. 3rd goal I thought was more fluke then soft.

More importantly he shut the door after that and allowed the Flyers to come back and win a very important game.

It has become easy for writers to just go with oh its the Flyers goaltending again.

Last night was a game that made me go, Geez thanks Homer and Snider for going out and getting this guy.

Only had people burning up my cellphone about how bad he was 10 minutes into the game, I just ignored, they kinda shut up as the game went on hmmm

Our game had twice the hits that the Wings Preds game had. 74 to 36 or something. Theres something to be said for the winner of this series not having much left in the tank unfortunately
- Just5

that's why the flyers gotta just go ahead and end it in 4

As long as nobody gets seriously crocked up I think they'll be fine. It's mostly a younger crew now and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

The superstar treatment. A fine is all I expected.

I think after the ending they had last night, there will be more hits and blood in that series the next game.

In a way I'm glad he didn't get suspended but I hope he shows more respect going forward. YEa I know it was retaliatory but he's gotta hold himself to a higher standard and pick his battles better. Win the series Shea not the fights.

Lilja played a solid game last night. My only question was on the second goal by the Pens should you take the player without the puck and allow Bryz to play the shooter? It was an odd man rush off a bad pass by MAB I believe. I know he thought Jagr would pick up the Pens player but to me the obvious play would allow the goalie to take the shooter and Lilja take away the pass. Any thoughts?
- stveshdy

I think this was a big defensive breakdown. Lilja should have played the pass, especially since Bourdon was coming back to make a possible play on the puck carrier if he chose to hold onto it. I cant blame Grossmann and Coburn for the 2 goals against when they were on, but this was definately 1 play that the defense exposed themselvs...

It wasn't shady. It was a bit late and the players had trouble hearing the linesman waive it off. The Flyers still had the opportunity to gain control of the puck and clear the zone. Briere's play led to a clear cut breakaway. I don't think it was even. I think we got the advantage.
- rockychocbill

The thing is, those plays don't happen in a vacuum.

- The non-icing to a goal play.

- Briere's off-sides to a goal play.

- Giroux's "penalty" when the Pens were up 3-0. That was the worst call of the night (including the non-calls) given the timing, situation, and the actual hit.

- 2 more fairly weak calls against the Flyers in a game where they were "letting them play". (I'm not really clear what was going on with Crosby and Jagr there...it was odd looking)

- No call on Schenn getting punched in the face well after the whistle. Made worse after the call on Rinaldo.

- And the 1 penalty in our favor, which didn't look like much to me.

If you're gonna let them play, let them play, which is what I hope happens in Game 2.

The first period was a result f the entire team vein overwhelmed by the Penguins. After that first period it seemed like a totally different game. Anyone calling
Bryz weak or shaky last night is off base. He, along with he rest of the team looked frantic until the 2nd period but they calmed down rather nicely.

Hopefully Nashville management is disappointed in him and will trade him to the Flyers sometime soon

True this Bill. And I don't like sir. Not one bit. And then they throw this out.....

"This play and the fine that addressed it will be significant factors in assessing any incidents involving Shea Weber throughout the remainder of the playoffs."

Oooooooooh. Scary talk.

That's one of the reasons pittsburgh is so good, they can exploit those weaknesses. Gosh I hope we dont get murdered by virtue of a bad third pairing this year.

I would have liked to have seen him save the teams Bacon on any of the three goals, but saying that, none of them were bad goals in my opinion. Just the results of terrible defensive coverages all three times. Screw the Bryz haters.

Not close

- BulliesPhan87

I agreed he was off-sides... How close is not relevant. However, the key point people are missing is... What the camera picks up is relevant. What is relevant is the point of view from the linesman. He was not in the optimum position to make the call. To his defense, the play reversed quickly, and he tried to get back into position. He is at an odd angel, on ice level, and doesn't have the luxury of slow-mo... In the end, he made the wrong call and called it on-sides. Regardless of for the Flyers or against... I'd rather the play move forward, then blowing dead an on-sides play. Can anyone answer; I assume that this type of call is not reviewable, or it would have been.
