the briere off sides goal cancels with the icing goal the pens got was my point. i care what they say on the nhl network. i don't like feeling like a 2nd/3rd class hockey fan just because i don't root for the face of the nhl. the least they can do is be fair. they acted like the icing goal was nothing and briere being 6 inches off sides was monumental. the fact is both teams got breaks, both teams gut away with penalties and the refs did have little to do with the outcome. but, that's only b/c the flyers' pk was so strong. the penalties against giroux and jagr were absolute crap. the one on orpik was well deserved. the refs let both teams get away with murder. so if you look at it the breaks evened out and the officiating favored the pens. they got the benefit of the doubt on penalties, icings and offsides. it wasn't a huge advantage, but they were the ones who faced less adversity due to luck and officiating. we got one break and two bad calls against us, plus a couple bad icings, should have gotten the benefit of a couple more icing calls. they got one break and benefited from two bad penalty calls. to me the breaks went the pens way and that just adds to how much we outplayed them by

The players decided the game, not the officials. After every single game the Flyers play, you claim that they got the shaft from the officials. The Flyers caught the biggest break in the game. And I don't know why what some of the media says makes you feel like a 2nd rate fan. They have zero influence on how I feel as a fan. And I could care less what they say.

it did happen the other way. the shady icing goal. that's the same exact thing. an undeserved goal. in this game it just happened to even out
- flyerscup2011

If Briere had been called on that obvious offsides they would have had to find some other way to tie it up.

Everything was even in the overtime. Either team had the opportunity to win this game. The Flyers won. I feel no need to apologize for that win.

It wasn't shady. It was a bit late and the players had trouble hearing the linesman waive it off. The Flyers still had the opportunity to gain control of the puck and clear the zone. Briere's play led to a clear cut breakaway. I don't think it was even. I think we got the advantage.

What do you think would happen to Rinaldo if he pulled what Shea Weber did against Crosby

Watched the replay over and over on the third goal on Bryz. As the puck comes from the rear, he bats it away but dupuis bats it right out of the air and past him. I can't completely blame him on that. So all this Bryz was shaky stuff imo is a big myth.

Lilja played a solid game last night. My only question was on the second goal by the Pens should you take the player without the puck and allow Bryz to play the shooter? It was an odd man rush off a bad pass by MAB I believe. I know he thought Jagr would pick up the Pens player but to me the obvious play would allow the goalie to take the shooter and Lilja take away the pass. Any thoughts?

If the Flyers hadn't won we'd be crying about that blown icing call
- Dkos

If the Briere goal didn't happen, yes I would be complaining about it... But since the Briere goal did happen, win or lose, the linesman's mistakes were evened out. Hopefully the NHL really looks at the embelishments and does something about it, but I have a feeling next game EVERYTHING is getting called.

He's going to be the best goalie in this series and hopefully in the playoffs.

MY thoughts are that Lilja is caught between a rock and a hard place. Jagr stopped skating on the backcheck and coasted.

just telling it like i see it. And hearing our local guys on sports rise go on about him being shaky got under my skin a little. Just stop already. The pens were pinning the Flyers ears back through the first 10 minutes. Any lesser of a goalie and that game really is over in the first period.

so that shadily washed out icing goal was less of a break than briere's??? it's even steven! yes i do feel like the flyers get shafted in many (NOT ALL, I DON'T EVEN COMMENT DURING EVERY GAME) games, because what i objectively see is bad calls consistently going against the flyers. once this stops, i will stop complaining. also, 95% of my complaints are legit

Bryz was solid IMO. Great effort by Crosby on the 1st and nothing he could have done on it. Second was a 2 on 1 and Fruitbat one timed it. 3rd goal I thought was more fluke then soft.

More importantly he shut the door after that and allowed the Flyers to come back and win a very important game.

It has become easy for writers to just go with oh its the Flyers goaltending again.

Schenn is going to be special....He doesnt back down when the lights are on him. I loved his swagger out there, even when the flyers were loosing 3-0.

I didnt think Jagr was coasting. He just looked like he didnt have the wheels to catch up. When in doubt I still think you play the pass and allow the goalie to take the shooter one on one.

i think it was lilja's fault for making the wrong read. the two forwards were going to staal and he was the only one with the angle to cover kennedy, he failed to read the play properly and bryz made a poor read as well.

Crosby's goal was an elite play I thought, no fluke.
- Just5

What I meant was, it was not a defensive breakdown that lead to the goal. You cant blame anyone for that goal... Not Grossmann, not Coburn, and not Bryz...

He got stronger as the game went on. YEa a shot rang off the post. But here's my thing with shots off posts. SOmetimes, and I think this might be one of those times, if the shot does go more towards the goal, it's probably going to hit the goalie thus being a save. I need a better angle on the replay to make a more definitive determination. Also I remember Patrick Roy talking to his goal posts, for good reason.

Our game had twice the hits that the Wings Preds game had. 74 to 36 or something. Theres something to be said for the winner of this series not having much left in the tank unfortunately

They said on the radio (I was on my way home at the time) that Jags was at the end of a long shift at that point. Anyone recall if that was the case?

What I did like is Grossmann still finished the check on Crosby. He was giving it to Crosby all night long and will have to continue to do it.
