I am probably in the minority here, but I love what Weber did. If Myers did that to Marchand or Bergeron, we'd put a friggin' statue of him outside FN Center. 3 amazing games last night with all sorts of nasty. Round 1 of the playoffs is the best!

Yakupov is very talented, but I'd be concerned drafting him #1. He relies on physicality for his game and that can be a long term challenge for someone under 6'. He might replace Vaneks offense someday, but not next year. Moving out Vanek I'm not oppos to, but I'd rather do it for someone further along their development curve.

Russians and Lindy do not mix.

Come to think of it....eh, nevermind

I think he should get nailed for the rest of the series. That was a total scum move. If the NHL is serious about head injuries, then he's got to go.

Nope. Shannahan is an inconsistant homer.

I don't get this guy. He only wants to evaluate Regier since Terry bought the team and he likes the Leino and Sekera deals?!? Terry, give your head a shake. R and R will win nothing here. Disgusting.

He said this morning that they identified him as a player they wanted and were aggressive in getting him and they paid market price for the guy. I'm pretty sure he ever uttered, "we like the deal".

Everyone had a down year, sans Pominville. The upside is that this was the 2nd most prioductive season of Leino's young career.

Some of Ted's comments this year have been so absurd and insulting its not even funny. He's clearly a figure head that has absolutely NO power in hockey decisions. Basically he's a front man for Terry who this year is suddenly no where to be found.

You are absolutely 100% right.

We only have ourselves to blame though. Were the idiots who bought all the tickets and watched all the games.

No, if we stop watching games like its going out of style, they will stop calling missing the playoffs success.

The 4 teams you mentioned have outstanding sales and attendance records. The exception being Tampa which is still great at 96%.

That narrows it down...

Do you have an actual quote where that was said? I've heard a lot of interviews over the past few days. I can't remember that quote from anyone. Except maybe '89.

Too bad the Sabres Ownership/Management can't force these underachievers (in some cases) to sit en masse and watch the Playoffs and see the Amped Up intesnsity of these teams ... See what it takes to TRULY put it into an extra gear and play out of charachter for two months ... fat chance these guys are already in Golf mode

Okay, as much as we all want to see Ruff and Regier (especially) gone, myself included, is anyone really shocked at this? Forget Pegula's fandom of Lindy Ruff for a minute. Go back to his initial press conference. Listen to what he had to say about who he was, and how he did things in life. Firing guys, even guys who a fanbase is livid with right now, after such a short period, isn't how the guy does business. And the guy is a billionaire, so he's going to stick by it. It's got him this far in life. Why would he change? Now, I don't think that philosophy works in professional sports, and that it's a "what have you done for me lately" kind of industry, and Pegula will eventually need to learn that, but to if you expected him to do fire either of them, you are living in a dream world. It's not blind devotion. It's not a fascination with mediocrity. It's simply an attitude, perhaps a little stubbornness: "I've been a successful man operating my business by staying the course for 30+ years. I see no reason to change it now". The fan in me hates that line of thinking, but the common citizen in me, who also has a career in the business field, can't blame him.

Not surprised for a second. I do blame Lindy more than Darcy, though. If we flop again this season, I think things will change. If we do even moderately well, I expect more of the same forever, and ever, and ever, and ever and.. *jumps off a bridge*

"if you expected him to do fire either of them, you are living in a dream world"

Thats fine, he's the Billionaire not me. But if he expects to do business like that and not get blasted by the fans, HE is the one living in a dream world.

I also come from a business background, and all of the best people I worked for and worked with were far more aggressive and less patient. I've never seen loyalty like this payoff of the business world. Its like running a restaurant where you feel its more import to cater to your employees and suppliers needs than your customers.
