It's pretty common for a linesman to signal icing and then wave it off once the play develops.
- nhindian

Never said otherwise. But usually they both take their hands down when that happens. But the real issue there, or the "miss" imo, was that it never should have been waved off.

Anyway, water under the bridge now. I'm sure your boys will be fired up for game 2. Hopefully the Flyers can match the onslaught before they get so far down.

I know we read a lot about the early deficits in Bills blog and all but here's my thing with it. IF you fall behind early, imo it's not always the end of the world, you have time. Look at it this way, you gotta know coming into this series you are gonna have to score 2-4 goals a game to win. So yea they jump out 2 nothing, so what? you still have time and know you're working to get those goals anyway. NO its not ideal to fall behind either, it be great going into the third period with a three goal lead. But man, it's tough these days to just sit on a lead. Just seems like the NHL isn't made for that anymore.

Oh, did the linesmen have conflicting signals? In that case, I agree it was a big miss. I was only going on what was said here that Ferraro covered it and said the linesman waved it off (I assumed both) since my feed didn't replay it.

Oh well. poop happens for better or worse. See ya Friday!

I think it was a mixture of both i think the Pens let up alittle bit but the flyers started to forecheck a helluva alot better in the second in third and the PK was stellar but yea u think it would catch up to them but i guess not this team just keeps coming back unreal... love this team

They actually highlight the conflicting signals in the TSN.ca game highlights.

The end angle showed the near linesman waved it off as Coburn was nearing the bottom of the circle. The same linesman blew the offsides call on Briere.

Agree that it's tough to sit on a lead but, on a league-wide basis, the team that scores first still wins 70 percent of the time. Flyers are best comeback team in NHL -- along with Pens, actually -- but it's still not the way you want to play. Flyers were able to go to the well again tonight and it paid off, but they still can't afford to constantly spot the Penguins early leads.

The flip side to this is that the Flyers know they CAN come back when they have to, and the Penguins know from a lot of first-hand experience that no lead is safe against Philly.

The Flyers are now already in a better position than they were in either of the two previous series with the Penguins since 2008. All the pressure is on Pittsburgh in the next game.

A Blue Jackets fan would know better how to deal with disappointment healthily, imo

This was more than a win tonight too, this had to have some sort of psychological effect. This was what? the third comeback by the Flyers on the Pens when they were down by three goals? It has to have an effect.

Falling behind and trying to valiantly come back is definitely not what the Flyers want to do ... but, on the bright side, they only need to do it 15 times more this season.
