not really, the game is over. - GoFlyersGoSlovakia
No, there's two periods left actually. You must be new to this "hockey" thing. |

The League asked the Flyers not to lay the body. Crosby has spend enough time on the IR. - roenick97
The thing is. Grossman took and absolute beating that period. So did Briere and they were going hard after Giroux.
The pens have their targets and its evident. The Flyers are playing soft right now. Jagr looking slow.

The refs thing right now is an absolute excuse.
The refs letting the guys play should help the Flyers not hurt them. They werent going to beat this team on talent, they were going to do it with physicality and hard work.
They are getting manhandled. - flyer_nutter
I've seen late hits from both sides, also cooke was tripped no call, and it looked like fleury got knoced over too. Flyers should be using this to their advantage. Just start smashing people, try and get back in the game, if not, gain something for game 2. |

well how much worse could it get ? - flyfan1212
It COULD get a lot worse. It won't, though.
Two in the second, two in the third, one in OT. |

Difference so far is that every Pens forward is playing physical and taking the body every chance they get.
Flyers only have a few players playing like that (Hartnell, Simmonds, Schenn).
They will not be successful in this series unless all the forwards commit to the physical game the way Pitt has. Honestly, I'm not sure the Flyers can pull that off. We'll see... - BringBack25
That was my biggest fear heading into this series. People who don't know any better think the Pens are this fancy skill team, when in fact they are one of the grittiest in the league. |

See while they are a young team, they have the veterans. Talbot, Briere, Hartnell, Jagr, Kimmo, Coburn, Carle, etc. Hell even Giroux. These guys are fairly experienced.
They came out dirt slow and it cost them. |

This game is not going well so far, but the series is not over. All we have to do is get out of Pitt with a split. Even if don't come back tonight, we win on Friday and we're right where we need to be.
I think it is likely that the rookies (despite Lavy's contention that they were all ready for it) were a bit overwhelmed by the intensity of the playoffs. They should be better next game.
Step away from the ledge people. Actually, nevermind - go ahead and jump. You'll feel better. |

Couple things I noticed:
Too many turnovers
MAB looks terrible
Playing too loose defensively

Oh stop it, Pens have been way more physical than the Flyers. They're not going out their head hunting though.

Unless they drastically increased the length of intermissions, the time remaining will undoubtedly have changed by then. |

Two words, Ilya Bryzgoalov! - flyerdude17
It is not all his fault. The defense gets badly outplayed. And what i find unacceptable - Pitt looks more physical. Hope Flyers get it together and at least strike some fear to Pitt for the following games |

live, it looked like coburn got it and they let up. i'm just flabbergasted. the linesman also missed a blatant offside call on the pens first shift up the ice. the guy on the near boards was a full stride over the line before the puck. it wasn't even close. i don't know how they miss that. - hammarby31
Horrible non call. |
