MJL, you missed the initial discussion in the Pens forum yesterday (that was allued to) where Mr. Emperor and his comrades absolutely did contend that Giroux is not a top-5 player in the league. You might want to be more informed about a situation before commenting next time.

Quite the contrary, I'm as informed as I needed to be. My reply was in response to what was said in this thread. If I was commenting on the other thread, I would post my comment in that thread. Instead of bringing a discussion from another thread into this thread.

If you have a discussion in another thread, leave it there.

It would be best to talk hockey and not venture down the slippery slope of discussing each other.

And please do not pull in other third-party poster's to your discussions by name. They have a right to their opinions and to express them themselves OR NOT. You need not speak for them.

understandable considering richie definitely won't be winning the cup this year.

Still have plenty of time before the puck drops. I'm sure it will only get worse.

Ya know, I think Vancouver is in for a real war. If Quick plays like he has all year, and Lou is average... the Kings get a key goal here and there, I think they can pull of the upset. Especially with Sedin out. Close series IMO

I've been coming to the Flyers forum long enough to know how to respectfully make my point, move on, exist here peacefully and have a little fun. I know I'm not going to change anyone's mind here one arguments about the refs and who is better etc.....but I still have a good discussion with most folks.

On the other hand, you pick a fight on the Pens board and drag it out for 5 pages and seem stunned that people don't agree with you (which is why I rarely respond to your posts on our board).

- Emperor Filonius

Ohhhhh, okay, so in other words, you're just going to ignore the part about how you can't seem to grasp the concept of players being compared to each other RIGHT NOW versus comparing their career "resumes" and then you thinking your opinion is more educated & better than that of 150 professional hockey players who have spent their entire lives IN and around the game and know what they're talking about. Okey dokey, got it. Thanks so much for exiting peacefully.

So to use your example that because the game is meaningless the officiating gets decided differently? If the blue jackets had been playing edmonton at the end of the year and the game gets rough just start throwing out players because a powder keg is brewing? That's a ridiculous set of circumstances to determine how you do your job.

We already agreed that the last pens flyers game was predetermined to be officiated with prejudice.
That IS my whole point. If the 6-4 flyers win would have been called the right way most likely there is not a need to be male appendages and call a clenched butthole game and the hype is not even close to what it was.

If you can't understand what I'm saying at this point fine but don't try and paint my argument as paltry and insignificant.

- bird_dog

No the game was not predetermined to be officiated with prejudice. It would have been the same for both teams on a hit such as the one Rinaldo made. As I've already explained. It had nothing to do with prejudice as far as one team or another. As far as the type of player making the hit and his reputation, absolutely. But that again wasn't a one sided prejudice against just one team and not the other. If McIntyre had made the same hit, I beleive the same call would of been made, as was made against Rinaldo. They were going to call it that tight out of the gate.
And also it wasn't just that the game was meaningless. It was due to what happened in the previous game, and the upcoming playoff matchup.
The call on Rinaldo is just a plain bad example to use when talking about the expectations of the officiating in the upcoming playoff series.

Also, I still think that Richie wins a cup before all is said and done and I'd be happy for him.

However, earlier this year when he was tweeting how he loved to wear Uggs I lost A LOT of respect for him..

Maybe you should check YOUR facts next time. I never addressed your post yesterday in our forum...having any discussion with you on our board is a waste of my time.
- Emperor Filonius

You also didn't chime in and say that he WAS a top-5 player in the league when your buddies were saying otherwise...which leads me to believe that you don't disagree with them. See how that whole "logic" thing works?? Cool, huh?

Who cares where Giroux is "ranked"? Only thing that matters is that he gets to hold the Stanley cup over his head in June.

this ghost-posted by rockychoc? the hell cares if he wears uggs for dudes?

i lost respect for him when he went from giving 110% to about 75%. should be a point/game player and selke candidate every year, but he's not because he's lazy and arrogant.

Well actually, you were commenting on a discussion that started in one thread and carried into another. You made your comment & your position without knowing the situation or having all the information...hence, you made an "uninformed" comment. That's all. It's not all your fault because you weren't there yesterday. But when it's mentioned (twice) that it was discussed on the other board, it's probably not a wise thing to say that someone had a certain position without having all the facts. That's all.

Anyway, it's gameday...let's get this party started!

so you are assuming the officials would make the same call if it was McIntrye? Okay...good to hear.
- phi1671

I have no reason to beleive that it wouldn't be. I think that is obvious.

I tend to agree, I just hate to see G not get the respect he deserves for being a great player in this league. Like I told them yesterday, they're free to have their opinion but they'll get to see for themself how good Giroux is over the next 2 weeks.
