what superstars make it to free agency?

and i never said Montreal was the top draw. i just said they haven't had much trouble drawing free agents. sorry, but Montreal is a far more desirable place to play and live than Edmonton.

Honest question. Would it be absolutely unthinkable to trade a player like hall? for the right price?

Here's the thing about Datsyuk especially. He was drafted at age 19, at the end of the 6th round. So, yeah sure, the red wings found him, but they also passed on him 23 times first. Can someone tell me that that's specifically great scouting?
- Morris

No it's not and even the Detroit management stated in an interview had they thought he would turn out that good they would have taken him in the first round.

No... Hall stays... The man cuts his face in half and still wants ice time... those types are extremely rare...

You keep Hall. I would look to deal players like MPS and Hemsky.

To live: Absolutely. Montreal is a very nice city.

To Play: Debatable. Given the current state of our two teams I could see players being very excited to join our squad given our enormous potential. The Canadiens are one of the only teams in the league with even more managerial/coaching questions than we have too.

Montreal is a wonderful city to visit, but I think that if I loved there I would go mad. Not to mention melt; holy jebus does it get humid there in the summer! I think that many people have a bad view of Edmonton because of the one ridiculous week of winter that inevitably comes, and that it's more of a blue collar city. In the summer time there are few places I'd rather be in Canada, it's beautiful here.

I would strongly disagree with that statement. Montreal is a never ending political controversy that most players want no part of.

Oh....My....Gawd....!!!! 3 1st overall picks in a row!! How many Cups will this team win? Anyone see the look on Howson's face when they picked the Oilers logo?

GO OILERS GO!!!

- eekloond

maybe a little closer to winning than the islanders and jets/thrashers have been in the last 10 years?

The right price would have to be a very young perennial all star D man

We could draft Yakupov and move Ales Hemsky.

Not after that extension he just signed.

I agree with this. They seem to care more about finding a GM and coach that speaks French over a GM and coach that can get the job done first and foremost.

hows the playoffs treating the stars and the 6000 fans that watch them play???
- ruttager17

I think you took my comment the wrong way, I actually enjoy watching the oilers and would rather them win over most of the teams on the league. I was just suggesting that they tank and grab 2 more superstars before worrying about playoffs. Because realistically were do you see the oilers going in the playoffs with there current roster this year or next year. Ps the stars had a decent attendance rate the second half of the year and we got screwed out of the playoffs because of loser points. We definetly don't have the superstars or up and coming talent you guys have, but we do have some good you pieces and a great goalie.

Thats what I'm getting at. You have all this superstar talent... on offense. On D, not so much. I think eventually there is going to be a log jam somewhere..

Good problem to have though..

It's not like teams wouldn't be lining up for any of Hall/Eberle/Yakupov/RNH if we had to move one once we are closer to a cup run.

We could easily balance our team out by trading any 1 of them IMO.

Its true an embarrassment of riches....deal with the problem when it surfaces in regards to re-signing... or trading for that matter...

Worst case scenario, Yakupov can get you two solid NHL ready defensemen.

Next scenario, trade Eberle to us for Franson and Holzer.

Third scenario, trade Eberle to us for a more realistic price...
