You guys just need the D and you will be fine. And I thought i heard stuff about maybe needing a goalie but Dubnyk looks great from what Ive seen?

No doubt you guys will be an offensive force for years to come, assuming china doll Taylor Hall can stay healthy.

But someone better figure out how to get some defense or a future like the Washington Capitals is definitely a possibility, i.e. can't win in the playoffs.

Like someone else mentioned above, it should be a little easier to attract d-men now... Who wouldn't want to be dishing the puck to guys like Hall, Ebs, Nuge and Yakupov? If the Oil can't attract d-men now, they need to get new management.

P.S. I guess this is good news for Schultz lovers?

Am I jealous? Yes

Will I also be rolling on the ground laughing as the oilers again fail to make it out of the basement next year? Yes

This is an embarrassment to the league. The drafting system better be changed in the new CBA.

Congrats to the Oilers and I'm not trying to offend but this isn't building the proper way. Detroit builds the proper way. Drafting solid players and actually building through their systems year after year while consistently being in the playoffs. Being at the bottom of the league several years straight isn't the "proper" way to re-build. Notice I didn't say "tank" either lol.
- Gmcc24

you do realize Detroit sucked from when howe left till they drafted Yserman. no i would rather rebuild Edmonton's way.

Contenders or not, it's not the "proper" way. Again, I'm not throwing the word "tank" out there, but if things were managed correctly, teams wouldn't need to be basement dwellers several straight years to become contenders. Tell that today's other contenders... i.e. Detroit, Philly, Rangers, etc.
- Gmcc24

i don't think they're trying to suck. i think they just have a blind NASCAR driver for a GM.

Time to relocate Gagner to a different team. Its too bad he had that good game (the bright spot of our year) because it delayed his trade. i won't miss him. i can't wait for Hemmer to get a real center.
- moe99

Nah... I'd look to move MPS and maybe next years 1st for a shot at a high end blueliner.

umm....done??

seriously, i think the Oil should take Nail and trade Hall...if the return is fair.

- DoubleDown

i would trade hall over ebs and Rnh. but we have no good left wingers waiting. but if hall gets us the stud dman we need then do it.

That's the plan. With how good Dubnyk did from February to the end of the season I doubt we do anything huge with goaltending in the off season. Hopefully it wasn't a fluke

because on-ice talent isn't the only thing keeping the Oilers from drawing free agents. free agents don't care about signing places where they can pad their stats.

Yeah, Dubnyk is decent... Khabibulin makes the Oilers goaltending situation appear much worse than it actually is. Hopefully next season they don't play Rehab for 40 games again... Ugghh

MPS with a pick might get us the high end blueliner. But give him the years given to Gagner and i bet he does better. if only he grew a set of balls and used his speed to his advantage, there would be no stopping him

They choose to play where they have a chance at winning... so this makes no sense... unless they just want the warm weather... if that is the case then why play???

If that is the case you don't want them.
