Congrats to the Oil Tankers. Is 3 in a row a new record? - docmorgan
No Quebec had three in a row. |

Congrats to the Oilers and I'm not trying to offend but this isn't building the proper way. Detroit builds the proper way. Drafting solid players and actually building through their systems year after year while consistently being in the playoffs. Being at the bottom of the league several years straight isn't the "proper" way to re-build. Notice I didn't say "tank" either lol. - Gmcc24

Oil should take Yakupov. There's little chance he plays next year. In another year Hemsky will either prove himself and can be moved for a good player, or he crashes and plays out his last year on the third line. If Yakupov does somehow make the team, Hemsky could be shifted to LW (played there a bit at the end of the season) or gives the Oil depth playing on the third line.
This year the Oilers only looked competent with at least 2 of the kids on the ice. With only 3 of them on the roster, that made it impossible to have 2 lines going. Hall, RNH, and Eberle all disappeared when playing with lesser players on the 2nd line. Having 4 phenoms means you can have 2 on each of the top 2 lines and actually have some balanced scoring. How about Hall-Gagner-Eberle and Hartikainen-RNH-Yakupov and Paajarvi-Horcoff-Hemsky for a top 9?
The only trade I can imagine the Oilers considering right now would be something like Jarred Tinordi and the 3rd overall (used to take Grigorenko or Galchenyuk) for the 1st... |

Time to relocate Gagner to a different team. Its too bad he had that good game (the bright spot of our year) because it delayed his trade. i won't miss him. i can't wait for Hemmer to get a real center. |

Didn't I hear that 2-3 years ago But seriously, if the plan is going to be take Nail than this summer has to be entirely dedicated to acquiring d-men that are actually NHL caliber and as close to a #1 as we can find. Don't wait for Whitney to maybe get better. - freelancer
You guys just need the D and you will be fine. And I thought i heard stuff about maybe needing a goalie but Dubnyk looks great from what Ive seen?

Contenders or not, it's not the "proper" way. Again, I'm not throwing the word "tank" out there, but if things were managed correctly, teams wouldn't need to be basement dwellers several straight years to become contenders. Tell that today's other contenders... i.e. Detroit, Philly, Rangers, etc. |

What the hell are they going to do with him and that contract? Trade him to the Leafs I guess. - duxcup07
I'm sure someone would want him. He isn't that good right now but still. And he certainly is overpaid but most of the free agents are going to get big bucks. |

if a playmaking winger needs a centre to play with, he isn't that good. |

Huge congrats to the Oilers. You guys are re-building the proper way. The Leafs could learn a thing or two. Can you say dynasty?! - Sharks_12
Cause you're team is doing so much better...in case you don't remember, 29 teams lose every year.
