I'm just looking at trade value, and being the most proven guy, you could get that D for him. It wouldn't create a black hole because you can fill it with Nail, plus a patch a hole on the defense. I don't think they will trade him, but I'm not arguing to trade him for trade's sake. We need a D. I guess I wouldn't call him expendable, but if we could pull of a deal for say, Pietrangelo, I'd do it. - Jack-artist
See Pronger trade.... we certainly never gave up an Eberle |

Pronger needed to be signed to a contract and the Blues were selling the team. He was also 30. I'd only trade Eberle for young Defenseman whose leading his team. |

Hhahahahahah oh my.....
If im Tambi im taking Nail first for sure. Unless a team offers something ridiculous.. Buy out Horc (depending on the new CBA), trading Hemmer would probably get us nothing we desperately need. Sign smitty as assistant coach hahah naw maybe give him a 2 year 2 mil/season contract? Go hard to sign Schultz and Suter and a 3rd line banger. Showcase PRV with Nail next year, hopefully he tears it up and pkg him with next years first and another asset for a Solid tendy..
Boom there goes the dynamite? |

You dont trade Eberle. The guy is probably the most clutch player when the chips are down there is. Think the last two WJC he was in brought Canada from doom back to glory both years. Just the second year he didnt have enough left in the tank cause he had no help. Those are the kind of players that win you stanley cups. |

Why not? We're not getting much for Hemsky. I'm not advocating it, but with Hall, RNH, Yakupov, you can afford to trade him for a young top D. Unless we're a little too sentimental. I don't want to do it, but it wouldn't be as bad an idea as you're making it out to be. Either that or you trade Gagner, and move Eberle to centre. - Jack-artist
Who in their right mind would trade Eberle??? He is only in year 2 and was our best player... He has vision, skill, poise... all hard to find... maybe not as raw as hall but still he is a special player... |

If anything you trade down one spot and draft Murray lol I think this is the year the oilers can really contemplate trading either down or for a stud young player. |

I see I've picked the wrong time to bring up swapping Eberle for a top D. When all the Eberle supporters are around.
My luck
Like I said, I don't want him gone. But if you can get a proven, franchise type defenseman whose in the right age range, you have to at least consider it. |

Honest question. Would it be absolutely unthinkable to trade a player like hall? for the right price? - Deadmau55

I would not suggest EDM to trade the 1st pick, draft Yakupov, move Hemsky+ for a defenseman. I believe that is a better route to take. EDM has the assets to add to Hemsky to get a higher return. Of course when it comes to resigning Hall, Nuge, Eberle, and Yakupov...it's a good problem to have in an organization. |

You might think I'm crazy, but I think Gagner should be the future captain of the Oilers. |

What a perfect season... team improves to the 2nd tier or crappy teams, dont finish last by a mile like CBJ did the this year, and still get the 1st pick.

Maybe the jackets try to pull a Burke/sedin by getting both picks. Johansen to the oil for the top pick? Then swing gagner for a dman. |

I agree. He's experienced a lot at a young age, and he plays the game right. Hall, Eberle and the likes are a little green, and not as ready. |

He definitely sounds like more of a leader than the others to me. He seems like someone who wouldn't mind being the voice in the locker room. |

lol yeah... We won't get much for him, but I'd like for him to get a chance somewhere in the NHL... Maybe Columbus would be right for him? |
