I hear Yakupov is Pavel Bure 2.0 (minus the robo knee and mafia connections) - Reveen

Trade them Kipper. You'll get something juicy in return, maybe even a hockey player. |

The big question now is where do the rest of the fwds play on this team as everyone moves down on the right side potentially? I guess Smytty gets a 1 year offer now opposed to 2? or hemmer out??? exciting summer to come... - saskoil21
Next season I would run something like this
Hall / Gagner / Hemsky
Yakupov / RNH / Eberle
Smyth / Horcoff / Hartikainen
Eager / Belanger / Jones |

is there a deal to be made with columbus for there 2nd pick
hemsky omark and our 2nd rounder for the #2 pick
this gives them a roster player a prospect and a pick sounds like overpayment to me, but there is the hemsky health thing and omark is close to make or break as a prospect.
they will also be adding the rumoured 5 assets in the nash deal if it is made this summer
seems like win win to me we get murray, the jackets in this and the nash deal drastically improve there line up
what do you all think?

was totally resigned to the fact that we were looking at 2 or 3..and totally ok with it as both grigs or murray filled a need, whereas yakupov was another smallish winger we already had.
now im fukin stoked. cant believe we're gonna have yakupov too.
tons of expendable pieces to move to shore up other problems.
first time ive been stoked as an oiler fan for months |

You better score 10 goals a game then because you'll be giving up 8. |

Not sure if this idea has been tossed around yet. But, what if CBJ traded their 2nd overall selection and their other 1st round draft pick to Edmonton for their 1st and their 2nd round draft pick. - dlachine
Why would they do that? What benefit is there? To say they picked first when the top five could all very well be good NHL'ers. |

This is an embarrassment to the league. The drafting system better be changed in the new CBA. - flamminghead
maybe the flames should just rebuild instead of maxing out the cap on old ball players every year to miss the playoffs. |

Waaaaaaaaaa, waaaaaaaaaaaa, my team missed cause the other teams lost more games then us but they got points in the shootout or overtime, waaaaaaaaaa, waaaaaaaaaaaa, with people like you, its no wonder the stars only have 6000 fans - ruttager17
I guess it's my fault for this argument. I shouldn't have tried to explain to someone who's still in high school about a broken and flawed system. I hope there aren't many fans like you, or people in general, in Edmonton. You maturity level and intelligence level are frightening. |

Its true. Although the draft doesnt go incredibly deep, the highend talent in the draft is higher then years past.
If looking for a forward, any of Forsberg, Galchenyuk, Yakupov or Grigorenko will give you a future allstar. As well as the defencemen all being very strong potential top 2's. Except Dumba, im worried about him. He is a little small for the way he plays.
Forsberg will be a steal if he falls to 4-5-6. As a swede you will be getting someone who works hard every night and never gives up (Alfredsson, Lundqvist, Sundin, Sedin's). A character guy on the first line. Whereas Russians, (im excluding Yakupov in this one) like Grigorenko tend to have moments of giving up (Ovechkin, Kovalev, Kovalchuk, Malkin, etc.)
Galchenyuk is american... but he seems to be so incredibly talented with his hands. Out of all of them he seems the most "magical". But magical might not always be best.. see bobby ryan, although amazingly talented, not every year allstar.
I think any team will be lucky to have any of these 4 guys. |

Just speculating here, but what if the Oilers didn't want to draft Yakupov?
Would the Oil #1 pick and Paajarvi to Columbus for the #2 pick and Ryan Johansen make sense to anyone? |

No it wouldnt, I dont know if you know this but Ebs is a avg skater, he cheats allot if you watch him play, if he played center he would get caught out of position more then hall. |
