I wasn't saying draft 1st overall the next 2 years then instantly become cup contenders. I was saying draft McKinnon and ekblad then fill out the team with vets and plugs. Your top players would be head and shoulders above most teams by them so you guys could definitely make the playoffs. Then in 3-4 years from now(1-2 after drafting ekblad) challeng for the the cup the next 10 years. And your playoff logic is stupid, we finished withe 2 more wins than LA and the same amount as PHX who won the division and 5 more than Calgary who finished above us. Please explain what else there is to do, we would have made the playoffs based on wins. - NoobasaurusRex
My logic is stupid???? How bout dont go 0 and fricking 5 to close out the damn season and then blame other teams for getting points in OT or shootout losses. 2 of those games being against the sharks who they were chasing for a spot. Ya had more wins then teams ahead of ya???? Well guess what, ya also had more losses as well. Dont cry about the freaking loser point when yer bloody team poops the bed at the end of the season. |

Draft Yakupov, no questions asked. That pick goes nowhere.
PRV is as good as gone if you ask me. |

Well it sure is awesome on paper.
Hopefully we can translate it to some on ice success in the near future. You have no idea how hard it is to watch your team be so terrible for this long. - gretzky
Have you met the 1970ish-1981ish Canucks. Missing the playoffs is one thing.... missing it when 16 of the 21 teams made it in was a ice cold frozen boot to the happy place.
But that was when 10 games were televised and lucky to read about it much the day after.
In this 24 hours News/Sports cycle.... yeah... thats gotta be hard.
So lucky TO is there to create a buffer from absolute depression. |

Your right.
If two teams finish with the records
45-37-0
35-26-21
The team with 10 less wins and 10 more losses is more deserving of a playoff spot I guess. Good thing we have people like you to point out the obvious, how could I have ever thought that if you win more games than another team you place better. |

The thing is Nail would have to prove to have more chemistry than Eberle in that line... which is really difficult as Eberle proved to have the best chemistry with RNH... moreso than Hall... that is a fact... |

Why their pick has a tonne less pressure on him... just has to play their game with far less media... this is not the tyler versus taylor or Landeskog vs Nuge... no 1a or 1b picks here... or according to most... most meaning bad Bob Mac. |

Oh the options!
There are some teams with high end defeceman that would love to trade a high end defencman for the pick! Shea Weber? Maybe to far.
There is also a good handfull of up-and-coming top 2 defenceman in the draft like Murray and Rielly where if known what other teams are looking for in draft, they could move up some and grab a player as well.
Or they could draft Yakupov and just be loaded with offence! Though, are three first overall picks even affordable??!
And my favorite option...
Trade down two spots to montreal and land Murray at number 3 and a nice player! (make sure Grigs will be drafted by Jackets though.)

Getzlaf line only got 174 points this year in 244 games played between them.
Nuge-Eberle-Hall got 181 points this year in only 201 games played between them.
I think they are already better. |

Not sure if this idea has been tossed around yet. But, what if CBJ traded their 2nd overall selection and their other 1st round draft pick to Edmonton for their 1st and their 2nd round draft pick. |

The big question now is where do the rest of the fwds play on this team as everyone moves down on the right side potentially? I guess Smytty gets a 1 year offer now opposed to 2? or hemmer out??? exciting summer to come... |

For now yes! Down the road who knows but its a nice luxury to have! Trade one or 2 down the road for real nice returns when needed!
