Bill, another fantastic blog - especially during the worst time of the season: the gameless days leading up to the playoffs.

I think you mean 2008, not 1998, in your blog, though. 1998 will forever remind me of losing to Barnababy.

There are 37 reasons why the flyers will win.

1. Shut down Malkin and Crosby to little impact on games.
2. Stay disciplined
3. Do not waste PP's
4. Strong PK
5. Bryz
6. Secondary scoring
7. Pens get vomitous stomach flu wreaking havoc on team
8. Jagr grows a magic mullet overnight and reverts to his prime form
9. Lavi throws stick and takes out Blasma for the rest of the series.
10. Letang gets another concussion
11. Jvr returns and scores game 7 winner with under two minutes left.
12. Oh nevermind

Why is that? I dont recall any Flyers being a part of some contiroversal hit, or dirty play this year. I can't remember a Flyer at all doing anything like throwing a flying elbow to the head of Giroux like Malkin did... Malkin should have been suspened for intent to injure on that one...

I'm talking about the fact that you won 2 cups because of dirty play. You know, the whole moniker "Broad Street Bullies"???

What does that have to do with the Penguins being a dirty team and getting Karma from it... We received our Karma, and still do to this day... The Flyers get no slack from Refs or the league because of our past reputation... Its about time the Penguins reep the karma from playing dirty now, and throwing games to get the lottery picks...

I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the 5 questions I posted as an neutral party.

Okay, dude...

1. Who will be the MVP in the series for PHI? I think Bryz. He has a lot to prove in the playoffs and has a history of letting in that momentum killing goal. Doesn't need to be the best player.

2. Who will be the MVP in the series for PIT? I refuse to answer this. (frank) Pittsburgh, although I like the city. Good places to eat, Southside is pretty fun.

3. Who is the X-factor for both teams? Officiating. Just needs to be consistent. Players can adjust to consistency.

4. Which coach will have the upper hand? I don't think PL is quite the coach DB is, but knows his team and puts them in good situations. DB seems better with on the fly adjustments.

5. Who wins if it goes to 7? I believe the Pens have lost their last two game 7s on home ice (Bolts and Habs) I am going with the Flyers.

I agree with Bill on his points. I do however believe that the Flyers depth scoring is going to be a huge factor in this series.

Lets just assume Lavi sticks with Talbot, Couturier, Rinaldo on the Neal-Malkin Line. The whole point to this line is to shut these guys down, and goals would be nice, but not looking forward to it. Bylsma also did not try and avoid this match-up either, so no reason to believe anything will change.

Next we know that the Giroux line will be matched to the Staal line. IMO Staal's line wont be able to contain Giroux's line as well as some other teams have. But more importantly we know at least 2 line match-ups.

That leaves Crosby, Dupuis, and (Kunitz Sullivanor Kennedy) Line and Asham-Adams-Cooke?? And for the Flyers Schenn-Briere-Voracek and Wellwood-Read-Simmonds... To me this is a favorable match-up for the Flyers... Briere and Corsby cancel eachother out... as long a we get the Playoffs Briere. Now we have a line of Asham-Adams-Vitele or cooke against Read and Simmonds who are both almost 25 goal scorers and add Wellwoods speed and defense and this is a big time advantage...

IMO the biggest key to this seriers is to Keep Malkin, Crosby, Neal, and Letang to 1 goal per game. We know you cant keep those guys off the score board, but as long as your not getting 2 goals from those guys, then the series should be managable.

The Pens have as much if not more scoring depth then the Flyers do.

Oh wah, get over it. If somebody brought up those two cups in a debate about franchise success they'd be called ancient history.

What do the teams from 1974 & 1975 have to do with the 2012 Flyers?

What the hell does that have to do with the present? The Flyers are not constructed in that way anymore and in fact, the whole league saw the Pens try to goon it up on the Flyers on 1 April.. attempting to knock out two of our key players with dirty hits. What's laughable is that the so called Flagship franchise of the NHL and it's poster boy were not held accountable, nor will they be in the playoffs.

Had the Flyers knocked out say Neal and Letang, there'd be calls to revoke the franchise.

Bad Blood... What can I say. When your team takes runs at guys in the last minute of a game that is over... and when there are 2 knee to knee collisions in the last 3 games of the reg season against 2 possible playoff opponents... dont be suprised when the other fan base wants you to get injured too.
- RooNosHockey

I don't wish any injuries on the Pens, and I think it's safe to say that most fans don't wish that on the other team. That makes zero sense to do so. I want a hard, competitive series. And may the best team win. And I want the best the Pens have to offer for the Series.

Wouldn't change a thing, dude has like 30+ bans and he couldn't care less.
I'll leave it to the Philly Refs to do that.
