Two issues with Dumba's game:
1. Bad playmaking decisions. He has tremendous enthusiasm, which is good, but he gets caught up ice frequently because of bad pinches and unnecessary hits. With players like this, it's always questionable how coachable they are. An example: Joni Pitkainen. Brill talent, but he's off in his own world and it makes his team nuts. But in fairness to Dumba, he can learn his way out of this issue.
2. Size. Dumba plays like he's huge, but he isn't. He's a physical force in the WHL, but he won't be in the NHL. See Gilbert Brule, who was taken in the Top 10. Brule steamrolled everyone in Junior, but had a terrible time adapting to the NHL game because he was one of the smaller guys out there. Especially on D, size matters. You could see a number of D men in the draft get picked later than ranked because of lack of size. Reinhart will move up because he's big. - Maxbone
Two words: Nicklas Kronwall.

hmmm I think Faksa is dependent on his return. If Kitchener get eliminated before he plays I think Burke takes Galchenyuk if he's available. A lot of people have Faksa slotted to Winnipeg, that would be sweet |

then Dumba gets selected LATE in 1st round, cause you know that Kronwall went #29.
Which is fine with me. As long as Edm picks Murray (Trouba, Reinhart) I am happy.

Listening to Rennys comments regarding Dubes next year sure sounded like he expects to be the coach come fall. - HallNEbs
Personally I think he will be. There is no need for a fall guy here yet. The team, while finished lower than hoped, made definite improvements in many areas.
The team/Tambi, are busy right now with other things. Plus I would assume that Tambi's contract gets sorted out first, then on same day, or within the next week after, Renney gets his done. |

That makes total sence as you have to have the G.M. in place before the coach. It's the G.M.'s decision who the coach is. New G.M. then 99% chance he wants his own coach. |

I know this is petty, but there's just something that would make me uneasy about looking forward to a prospect named "Dumba". I've never seen the kid, but I picture big ears. |

I noticed in scouting reports that Murray has offensive upside but I look at his numbers between last year and this year (on a per game basis) and there wasn't much improvement. He did well in the playoffs for the one series he played. If the Oilers pick him, is it better for him to go back and work on that aspect? Or maybe do we want someone like Rielly who can possibly contribute offensively like Karlsson/Doughty/Pietrangelo?
Edit: I would be happy with grabbing Murray, it's no secret we need a steady all around presence on the blueline. |

Just keep this in mind when people say we should take Reinhart. (See Quote Below)
"Coming into this season Ryan Murray seemed to be two steps ahead of the rest of the draft class from the WHL.
Now that we're closing in on the playoffs, I can say that my feelings haven't changed one bit. Not only is Murray an excellent example of a two way defenceman, he's also likely the most NHL ready blueliner to come out of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Murray missed the cutoff for the 2011 NHL Draft by only 12 days, meaning he is one of the older players in 2012's class. It also means that he's had that extra 6-12 months to display his talents, when compared to many of his counterparts.
But, don't let that fool you. That's not the main reason why he's considered tops in the class. He's ranked 1st on almost every list in regards to defenceman simply because he's very talented and he projects well to the pro game.
When watching Murray, the first thing that comes to the forefront is his skating. He's an excellent skater and really makes things look effortless out on the ice. He uses that ability to lead the rush and jump into the rush. He also puts up offence because he's a strong passer and has a very good shot from the point.
His numbers might be a bit disappointing (21 points in 30 games so far for Everett), but I can assure you it's not because of a lack of skill. If he wasn't playing on a team that had 17 more losses than wins and scored the third fewest goals of any WHL club, we'd see point per game numbers from Murray, if not better than that.
The kid really is the total package as he's also more than capable as a defender. He's not overly physical but he's excellent in his positioning and stick work. His skating also comes to the forefront on the defensive side of the puck.
He also comes with leadership capabilities, as he's the captain for the Silvertips. That's an honour he's had since he was a young 17 year old, a feat not often seen in junior hockey.
Overall I don't have many knocks on Murray. If there was one complaint, it would be that he plays a very vanilla game. He won't wow you shift after shift, he's just very calculated and rarely makes mistakes. I would also like to see him be a bit more aggressive on the offensive side of the puck.
Will Ryan Murray be the first defenceman drafted in the 2012 NHL Draft? I sure think so as it's pretty tough to pass on a guy that plays very similarly to NHL great Scott Niedermayer. " |

How does he get compared to Scotty all the time? The offensive numbers are just no where near what Niedermayer was capable of, comparing Murray to Niedermayer just seems off to me. |

Like comparing Larsson to Lidstrom??
I think they mean playing style more than anything, not necessarily point production. Plus you have to take into account he played for a low scoring poopty hockey team. |

Yes, but .75 PPG more is quite a large difference. |
