Gotta love how 90% of the responses are saying - - NO CANUCKS> translation. when you are as arrogant and annoying as maxim lappiere, alex burrows, and kevin bieksa, and as big of puss*'s as the sedins it's hard to get anyone out of the greater BC area to like you! - SPIbanez
Do you Pavel Datsyuk as well? Because he is realistically as tough as the Sedins and I don't hear anyone giving him a hard time.
I'd rather have the Sedins on my team than 99% of players in the NHL. Anyone who says otherwise is just jealous, imo.

Kinda reminds of when we had Darcy Tucker, Shayne Corson here in Toronto... so hated. |

Don't forget about the arrogance of the Canuck fans, walking around with their noses in the air, acting like they've already won something. Congrats Nuck fans on the President's Trophy, but it means nothing unless you follow that up with the Stanley Cup, which isn't happening anytime soon. |

Those guys are the reason I'm a Senators fan. True story!
I don't even really dislike the Leafs anymore, I just hated the players they had back in the day so I rooted against them... Turned out the team they played most consistently in the playoffs was the Senators |

Why isn't anyone saying the Oilers!? I think this is their year. |

Something like that. I'm a non-Canuck fan living in the Metro-Vancouver area. Trust me when I say that my hate for the Canucks has grown slowly over time, thanks in most part to the Canuck's fans. And they use to be my second favorite team before I moved here. |

I'd like their skill on my team, but not them.
I find them world class players, but we already have enough soft players on this team! |

The Atlanta Thrashers have just as good a chance of winning the Stanley Cup this year as the Oilers.

To the bickering Leafs and Senators fans on here, I think you might be right... I think the Senators both somewhat overachieved and were somewhat underrated this season.
Reasons for thinking they overachieved: Expectations were low that Filip Kuba, Sergei Gonchar, Chris Phillips, and Daniel Alfredsson.... Critical components of the team... Would be able to step up their game and contribute as they had previously, especially Kuba coming off the worst year of his career. Second, given the injury history that Michalek and to a lesser extent Spezza have had, it might have been difficult to predict that both stay almost perfectly healthy for a whole season.
Reasons for thinking they were underrated: Spezza and Michalek getting and staying healthy was always a possibility, and they would never be a lottery team with those two playing as they can. Anderson, in spite of the doubters, couldn't have helped but be an upgrade over Elliot and Leclaire last season, given how horrible they were. Erik Karlsson's breakout campaign can't have been the most surprising thing ever to happen... I don't think he overachieved, just realised his potential more and more quickly than anyone expected.
I think, in retrospect, a 9th-11 finish should have been expected. They overachieved - moderately - to finish in 8th, a playoff berth very few (myself NOT included) saw coming.
OH, and I don't want to see the Penguins win the Cup. - Mr_Clean
Solid insight, but you forgot to recognize:
1. Karlsson's season could be a career year. Anyone who thinks Karlsson is an "80 point d-man" is insane. He'll an elite d-man with career averages around 50-60. To think he will better than Lidstrom is ridiculous at this point.
2. The Sens were lucky that they were able to stay afloat and maintain their position when Anderson went down.
3. Nobody expected Turris, who turned out to be a nice surprise.
4. The Sens' secondary scoring outperformed.
5. The Sens benefitted from weak seasons by division rivals, Habs and Leafs.
None the less, the Sens deserve some credit. |
