I think its interesting that Cherry shows that Schenn initiated the whole sequence with an earlier hit, and that Crosby simply took at shot back at him in the corner before Schenn crosschecked him. Believe me, I'd rather see Malkin and Crosby stay away from that stuff, but the simple fact is they take a lot of abuse throughout the game, and this isn't the 1980's anymore and we don't have the Dave Semenkos of the world out there to police things....we all know that Schenn would have lost a few teeth over that incident if this was 1985....but it isn't, so Macyntire wasn't out there on Schenn's next shift to pummel him (he was down in WBS because the enforcer is a dying breed in today's NHL). The stars largely have to look out for themselves and its hard to turn the other cheek all the time, and so when Malkin and Sid choose to go back at guys, I don't have a problem with that.

Somehow I suspect you folks won't agree.

He said for an earlier hit. it didn't say an earlier dirty hit. for all we know it was a clean check crosby didn't like

I agree Marc. It was a minor boarding penalty at the most.
- MJL

I disagree, it was a great impact call in a mean nothing game. That's two in the playoffs though

It was tamer than Mike Richards' boarding penalty last night, which only warranted a two-minute penalty in the game against the Sharks.

I think Rinaldo was probably gone on any borderline hit from behind in that game, just to nip it in the bud.

When do they name the officials in the series, or have they?

not really, Richards' hit was more of a push, while Rinaldo had a run off from the red line. The result was worse, yes

Not sure what your disagreeing on. If you disagree with what I said, then you think that the call was the correct call?

Your probably right. But I disagree vehemently with that manor of officiating.

Just want no part of Auger, Jackson or Peel.

I would love to see a series played 5 on 5.

I do too. I hate to think that that call was probably decided on at the refs' dinner table the night before.

I won't even go so far as to wish for a 5 on 5 series. I just want consistency, whether the whistles are put away or not. Wishful thinking, I know.

'Blows' isn't the correct term. He does, however, suck.

Hey MJL,
What do you think about the Grossmann deal?

I like it, he seems to be a great fit and fills a part of what they miss with Pronger, at least on one half of the ice.

I used to live close to Augusta, and we would go every year (at least the practice rounds). The actual tournament was a very tough ticket to get.

It is a lovely walk around at that place.

Should Pronger not return and Carle does not get re-signed, I am interested in knowing what direction the Flyers might go in. As it stands this is what the Flyers look like on D with a healthy roster.

Regulars: Pronger, Timonen, Carle, Coburn, Meszaros, Grossmann

Scratches: Lilja, Burdon, Gustafsson

First Call up: Manning

I find this to be an interesting situation. I understand Lilja is cap friendly but speaking for myself, I'm slightly higher on Burdon, even with the sluggish long stretch that he's had before being sent down. Good start but wore down after a month or so. Do we need the contract limit to always be right at 50? Do we need to hang on to a cap friendly player who spends a lot of time scratched and hurt?

I also ask myself if the Flyers should risk re-entry waivers for a guy like Bartulis he's a RFA at the end of this season.

Also should we go after Suter with Pronger and Carle possibly being done here? Are people still interested in a Weber for JvR plus package?
