Neither you nor I have no idea why a deal hasn't been done. Holmgren has said repeatedly that he wants Carle back. It's a two way street. I don't get the sense that you get at all. If anything I get the sense that Carle wants to test Free Agency. And it's been his choice not to resign. If you want to speculate that it means that Holmgren really doesn't want Carle back, that's your choice. But there is no factual basis for that.

Exactly. Anything said by the player or the GM is PR. And not neccesarily the true feelings. There is one thing, and one thing only that we know about it. The Flyers and Matt Carle have not come to an agreement to resign at this time. Nothing more, nothing less.

Grossmann resiging has no effect on what's happening with Carle. I believe that Carle wanting to test Free Agency was decided long before this signing.
