i think the success rate for winning the presidents trophy and then the stanley cup in the same year is like 23%. but only the red wings have done it (twice) in the last 10 years.
exactly. orpik is known for his physicality, but also for his good clean hits. Orpik is not a dirty player whatsoever. im not saying it was accidental, and i think orpik should get a 1 or 2 game suspension. The game moves so fast that sometimes you just try to get in the way when you miss a hit and thats what orpik did, unfortunately he stuck out his leg and a suspension will hopefully keep him from doing it again. playing the game is much different than watching it, and anyone who has played for as long as i have can vouch for that.
Rupp (a player i really like) kneed staal and in no way did i find him as a dirty player, just a bad decision. for torts to go out and bash on the entire organization for a mistake that many have made is ridiculous. he could of handled it like the professional he is. - drummer829

clearly you people(pens fans) haven't see the tape. Rupp went with his hands into Staal's shoudler. staal did a little shimey and they clipped knees. In no way, shape or form can the two be compared. besides, rupp issued an apology right after the game. Did orpik, don't think so.

Oh absolutely lucky. Of course. But it took some good management to trade mikael Samuelson to move up for fleury. But it also took plenty of good signings and trades to get where they are. There really isn't anyone they traded away or let walk that really looks bad right now. - schiefer466
Ok, I'm not knocking Quick at all but how can he possibly win the Vezina over Hank? Quick is only ahead in of hank in the shutout category. Quick has played more games, but Hank still has more wins. Quick is a good goalie no doubt and deserves to be a finalist but I will be so (frank)ing pissed if he wins it over lundquist.....

This really is something. From the awful way we had to start the season in Europe, then the Western Canada roadtrip all before playing our first home game. Torts kept this team together & got them all to buy in on his program. Sure there were bumps in the road, there always will be, but we came through a grind of a regular season & with a win in Game 82 we can match the all time team mark in wins & win the President's Trophy, remarkable!
