Isn't it odd the way matchups work. Just crazy that the Flyers have seemed to have the Pens number but can't buy a win against the Rangers. And as talented as the Pens are, I really do think the Rangers are a better TEAM. We'll see how it all goes.
- bodiva88

the sens record in msg over the past couple of years is crazy and the rangers only won 1 of the games against them this year. I'd rather play the caps honestly. Their goaltending is meh and the defses is average at best.

Pens are untouchable, hope karma bites them right in the arse, Crosby has but a small window before his next concussion and hopefully a career ender, it's what their fans deserve
- cranford93

I don't think we should ever wish that on anyone...I don't want him to end his career, little extreme. I just want him and the Pens to play hockey and not whine about every little thing. torts said it bets...he is 100% correct about the Pens from Mario down!!!

I want the Presidents trophy...

Let's beat Washington tomorrow, so then Jersey gets Florida.

We'll finally take care of Washington in the playoffs this year, and then take down Jersey...

If we lose to Washington and then they take down the Devils, we get the Flyers/Pens in round 2, as opposed to round 3...

Cost of protecting Mario Lemieux apparently starts with $20,000 out of John Tortorella's pocket.

---

Yet only $2,500 for Orpik? LOL!

Lemieux writes public letter threatening to sell team, excoriating league and gets off scot-free for his tantrum.

Looking forward to NHL's explanation for fining Tortorella 20K. Seems beyond weak. Has the league ever heard a Pens' telecast?

Jesse Spector ‏ @jessespector Reply Retweet Favorite · Open
Does the NHL realize that by fining Tortorella for his comments, they basically proved his point?

I had to run here it's heard of Torts fine so the truth is worth 20K ha? Or 25K and Orpik walks away scott free amazing so the Rangers may be wo their #2 center and fines the coach meanwhile all it does is enable that team to keep doing what they do

Again, this is all more fodder for what the perception is about the Pens, their the Untouchables, call up Elliot Ness already.

I would love to have seen Orpik face the music with Rupp or Prust on the ice.

The league obviously is sending the message to coaches, GMs, etc. not to act like fools. If I were Torts, I'd be a lot more concerned with getting past round #1, rather than the alleged arrogance of the Penguins organization and the whining of their stars. I personally wouldn't mind seeing some big suspensions come down for hits like the one Orpik made, but you can't start cracking down in game #81 after slapping guys on the wrists all season long unfortunately. I thought they were moving in the right direction when they came down hard on Cooke hard last season, but that was just a one-off that they knew would go over well in the court of public opinion -- even his own team endorsed it.

I just hope Stepan is OK and your team does well . . . love the way the Rangers play the game . . . their coach's rants, not so much.

Yes the message is leave the face and faces of the league alone or else it's beyond Orpik now it's just adds to the perception that Lemieux runs the league and they are untouchable Orpik is playing tomorrow night we don't know about Stepan so what's stopping the pens from continuing unless you end someone's career nothing!!!5

How about crosbys comments about Cally,Sid what do want him to do when two of your players slew footed two of our players each of the last 2 seasons and one of them was you on Cally. So it's safe to assume Cally is on the refs bc nothing is ever called on you Sidney oh yeah that interference call in straka was legit too please Philly beat them enough already!

How many games did Steckel get for hitting Sid in the head??

How many games did Ovechkin get for a similar knee on knee hit to Gonchar 3 years ago?? Zero?! Really?? Huh . . .

Do you recall how many games Cooke was suspended last season? The league protected him by suspending him for SEVENTEEN games!!

I recall Letang and Engelland both being suspended for a few games earlier this season for dangerous hits, so they're not as protected as you might think. Just seems that way when your team is on the receiving end I think.

The Pens have had about 10 guys out with concussions the last 2 seasons, so if the league is somehow protecting them, they're doing a pathetic job.

Yeah. A hit no one even thought of as a hit at the time. Looked completely incidental and inconsequential.

that was an accident, plain and simple. the cooke suspension, justified. Orpik, got off light. that's the way it is.

NHL=BIGGEST JOKE IN SPORTS

Penguins throw a Dirty hit and lose no one, get fined $0

Rangers take a dirty hit, lose a top 6 forward and get fined $20,000

Neither make any sense, but when it comes to the Penguins it never does.

I really just have to laugh at the NHL on this one.....once again apparently words are more hurtful that the actual physical act. What a pathetic society we live in

you shouldn't be mad. We all knew something like this was going to happen. now we just gotta either win the (frank)ing thing or throw a few "Orpiks"

well that's why sean avery was hated by many, because he actually could ruffle some feathers without making contact. The Brass of NHL doesn't like when various people out wit them.

That piece of garbage Cooke should have been kicked out of the league when he cowardly attacked Savard - end of story. The NHL just needs to remove the garbage from the league. Similarly, Bertuzzi should have been kicked out of the league when he ended Steve Moore's career.

Unfortunately, the NHL won't do anything - until of course a Penguins player has his career ended. You can bet the rules will change overnight if that happens.
