Hey I wish I didn't feel this way but can you honestly tell me that the team we watched play the last two games is ready for a play off series where the games (no matter the opponent) will be a lot more difficult than the last two games? They don't look like they are up to the task to me. Fingers crossed though
- tconsolo

I think you're a little too down on this team. They battled for 80 games and won the East. Hard to have that intensity for 2 games that really had little importance for the team. The President's trophy is nice, but how many players goal is to win that? Ill worry when i see a lackadaisical effort in the playoffs. These guys won 51 games, give them a break.

That's alot of negativity for the #1 seed. You can say these games were meaningful but were they really? They maintained the #1 seed and that's all that matters right now, plenty of teams have gone on to win after playing out the string as referenced above.

Canes went 3-4 their final 7 games in march of 2006.
Ducks went 4-6 their final 10 games of 2007
Red wings went 4-8-2 in february of 2008.
Penguins went a combined 10-16-2 in December and January in 2009
Hawks went 6-7-2 in March of 2010
Bruins went 6-6-2 in November of their championship season.

if these teams can struggle and win it all, so can the rangers.

Exactly...the team really had nothing to play for the last 2 games. I mean Richards is a crafty veteran. He isn't going to go all out and risk himself for the playoffs if he has nothing to play for. It was preseason hockey. I am confident this team will be fine come Thursday. It is crazy IMO to judge this team on the last 2 games. Time to buckle down now and get to work. The real season starts

excellent stats bud Can't wait until thursday. I expect them to bring their A game and give it all like they have for most of the year. Ottawa has a very good club. Staying out of the box is always important, but even more so against this Ottawa team. Lot of skill up front and maybe the best offensive defenseman in the game today in karlsson. Spezza and michalek have been rangers killers this year, will be a huge test for mcdonagh and girardi.

Yep i totally agree. I had tough time watching tonight because we had little to play for. Glad no one was injured in either game. I wasn't worried about these 2 games at all. The goal isn't winning the president's trophy. Nice accomplishment, but no one remembers the team that wins that if they don't win the cup.

On a different note, glad Kreider won the National championship and hope he signs tomorrow. would be a huge upgrade over mitchell

Leaky. If the Rangers stay out of the box they should take it. If they put Ottawa on the PP alot it will be interesting.

One of our losses came via shootout in the second home game of the year. that was before we got rolling. We had a 4-1 lead in the third and blew it. If not for wolski's dumb headshot, we likely win that. They have a solid top 3, but i believe their bottom 3 isn't great. I haven't seen a ton of Ottawa games so it's hard for me to judge. Gilroy plays for them

Have to stay out of the box though. they have a lethal powerplay. Lot of talent on that. Karlsson is a stud. great shot and passer. Of course they have spezza, alfy, michalek, etc up front as well. Staying out of the box is even more important against the sens. Can't play with fire

I just was not mentally ready for Ottawa. I thought it would be Cats in case of a loss today. Of course NJ had to screw it for us!

i wouldnt really say the devils screwed it for you guys, more like ottowa did, the whole game today seemed more of a lets just get out of here with no injuries game, and practice special teams when they were on the PP

it didnt have that feeling of either team really wanting to win it

Who gives a F about the last 2 games, they didnt mean sh!t. This team won 51 games & is the #1 seed in the East, think that would have happened back in September? Jeez Louise!

You have to be pretty negative to focus on those 2 games. It's been a fantastic season. 51 wins, 1st in east and 2nd overall nhl team. btw, Happy Easter to everybody. Happy Passover to jan and anyone else who observes

Playoff Predictions: NYR in 6, WAS in 6 (this team seems very dangerous as an underdog, getting Backstrom back healthy, and maybe Holtby can step up like tonight), NJ in 5, PIT in 7, VAN in 5, SJ in 6 (don't trust STL), CHI in 6, DET in 7

So i guess i cant express my opinion on the blog. Same reason i have not been on here in years, clowns who who think they are the only ones with an opinion that can be shared. FYI I have read almost every rangers blog and comment page for the past four years. I stopped posting because of comments like this and the endless supply of trolls.

Sorry if I expect more from this team than what I have seen since midway through the game in philly, and sorry I feel that taking their foot off the pedal for 2 1/2 games might cost them a shot at taking momentum into the first round and sorry if I feel that may make this entire spectacular season a waste if they blow it.

Looking forward to Game 1. Hearing a lot of talk about how the rangers got their worst possible draw bc the Sens are fast and skilled and how they beat the rangers 3 out of 4. Couple of things, one, we beat the caps 3 of 4 last season so that means nothing. Two, a couple of weeks ago Ottawa was knocking on NJ'a door for 6th and even spent a day in first place in their division and they dropped to 8th so they are not exactly tearing it up. In this series they have to battle for space and pucks for every second and in the regular season it's one game and see you later for a few weeks if not a month plus I don't think they can stand up physically. Good speed and skill no doubt but over 7 games or at the very least consecutive games I don't know if they can stand up...early prediction...Rangers in 6, with some luck in 5 I am confident and 4 days of rest will do these guys good bring it on baby!!!!
