Didn't get to watch but from scoreboard watching I'm pretty upset with them, 2 chances at the Presidents Trophy and we blew it, all they need was 1 point which is the amount we finished infront of Pittsburgh, certainly did not want to play Ottawa and now give that fan base in Pittsburgh more ammo, tired of them getting the upper hand, maybe 16 wins from our boys will change that if they'll battle for it.
- Bannedforbros

No series is going to be an easy series. It is the playoffs. If the Rangers don't battle, they will be out in 4 games, so they better battle. Sens, Caps, Panthers...it doesn't matter. Rangers just need to play their game.

I'm dying to hear Kreider signed already, why is it taking so long for an update?

I doubt it happens tonight. The kid is probably out celebrating with his team. If it happens, it will happen tomorrow.

Thought he had to be signed tonight or did that change because he was put on reserve back in February?

I don't remember seeing anything about a deadline tonight. I think one of the beat writers would have said something if that was true. But I am not 100% sure.

sens vs rangers in rd 1, should be a fun series.

you guys will be the clear favorite (obviously), however the sens have a great mix of youth as well as playoff tested vets, and they'll have that "nothing to lose" attitude.

can't wait for the series to start. hopefully we can get a good little rivalry going between these 2 teams.

good luck, but hope you lose

saw your post about deadlines to sign him and what not. The only deadline i've heard is august 15th. Then he can become a UFA.

Yea that sounds right. I really think tomorrow is the deadline. If he doesn't sign by tomorrow then he won't be around this year. Then it is a hope he signs in the offseason so he can compete in camp.

After the last two games of this team playing like they couldn't care less, this was a game where Torts needed to step up and be heard by this team and he didn't do his part. After those two early goals this team needed a wake up call. Call time out and smack some one upside the damn head. He failed to recognize what was needed. I fault him for these two losses as much as the team. I know he has stated that he wants to show the team that he is "with them" but tonight he needed to take control. Also, I hate to agree with milbury but I think Torts may have subconsciously taken his foot off the gas a little by not pushing for 1st over all as being important.

Beyond that, Richards was absolute crap tonight. Supposed to be a leader and he couldn't win an important faceoff to save his life. Faceoffs are more about concentration and grit than skill and he showed me neither. I was watching him in the dot and he was b1ch1ng to the linesmen the whole night night. Just concentrate on winning the damn faceoff and shut fack up already.

Girardi looks tired.

McD is chasing was too much on the D side. He needs to scale back the the O because he is burning DG way too much lately.

Staal needs to have a steady partner already, way too much flux on the second and third pair.

Hank, Hank, Hank... This was an embarrassing game from him. He was a piece of crap in net tonight. He needs to get it together and quick.

Last but not least, if Boyle is our most engaged player going into the playoffs again this year we are facked. Plain and simple.

I predict that this is not this teams year. This week has proven to me that they still have a lot to learn still. Way too lackadaisical for this time of year. Teams like Philly, Pit, Detroit, Bos, etc. are ramping up the compete level and this team seams willing to phone it in. Not the sign of a team ready to take the next step. I hope I am wrong but I doubt it.

You're gonna give up now? Get a good nights sleep and re think it in the morning, look at it this way, if we make the Cup the only team that could take our home ice is the #1 seed, the chances of both making the finals is slim these days.

Forget home ice. They need to compete. Pit should have been an easy game to get up for and it was night of the living dead. Tonight meant a lot and they looked like like last years team. I'm not giving up, this team seams to think they actually accomplished something already. The team we played tonight went through this a couple of years ago as well. I said I hope I am wrong, I just don't believe it.

so basically you're saying that without playing a minute of playoff hockey, the rangers are done. Way to stick with it when the going gets tough.

to go from 8th place to eastern confernece and atlantic division champs is an accomplishment. Now it's time for the angers to do what we all would like them to do.

Hey I wish I didn't feel this way but can you honestly tell me that the team we watched play the last two games is ready for a play off series where the games (no matter the opponent) will be a lot more difficult than the last two games? They don't look like they are up to the task to me. Fingers crossed though

No doubt they have come a long way. The only problem is those banners are the consolation prizes. Any thing less than 16 wins is a sign of failure. IMO. You can't play like this all year and then mail it in to end it and then turn it back on again. It just doesn't happen.

Canes went 3-4 their final 7 games in march of 2006.
Ducks went 4-6 their final 10 games of 2007
Red wings went 4-8-2 in february of 2008.
Penguins went a combined 10-16-2 in December and January in 2009
Hawks went 6-7-2 in March of 2010
Bruins went 6-6-2 in November of their championship season.

if these teams can struggle and win it all, so can the rangers.
