I missed the hit on Grossman or I would answer you--cant find a clip on youtube for some reason. - Rawdog9755
It was Ulf Samellson dirty. I mean Grossmann was skating blissfully around minding his own business when out of a dark corner of the ice came Vital with a crow bar.
It was a weird collision, they kind of went hip on hip and knee on knee. Grossmann took the worst of it and Pronger had to take him behind the CEC to end his suffering. Much like the Rangers had to do with Stepan last night.
Just watched it again. They were pulling trying to get an arm free and a better hold on to eachother. At exactly 20 seconds simmonds winds up and throws a punch and thats when the fight turns from holding to fighting. No real punches thrown before that. You stopped glowing red a while ago and this entire board is glowing gold and making you look foolish. Simmonds pulled a bad card, got a beating for it. They will have many, many chances to fight again and im sure they will, get over it sir. And if you have ever been in a hockey scrum you know there is a big difference between holding each other and talking and throwing haymakers at each other. When you throw a wind up punch at someone it goes to a whole other level. - StabMastaArson
engelland threw the first punch, period. on a guy who had 7 stitches from taking a puck to the face the day before and was simply trying to tie up an opponent so his teammates didn't get double-teamed (esp after briere left the ice, already leaving the other flyers on the ice outnumbered). in the world of tough guys, that's a wussy move, plain & simple. deal with it or don't, i dont care...but it is what it is.
How does that make them the whiners in the situation though? Isn't whining similar to pathetic pandering in the media because another team played dirty?
When a whiner is whining about another team being whiners...what does that make them? - Ben37
And when a fanbase whines about whiners whining about another team whining, what does that make them?
And when another fanbase whines about a fanbase whining about whiners whining about another team whining, what does that make THEM?
You're saying that grabbing one of the leagues stars to drag him to the box and keeping him from getting jumped from behind is special treatment? If he wasn't penaltized i'd agree but they should protect the stars. - Doogs
Complete BS and more proof that Pens (and their fans) are hypocrites with double standards. The Canucks didn't even get a power play out of all that. The refs never do that with any other play (star or not)...that was ridiculous.

You guys have 8 games to get your revenge. Suggest your team makes the most of it.
Ovechkin has been suspended for this type of hit because he has done it on more than one occasion. Malkin has done this since as well, and received nothing. The worst part of it is he skates away from the scrum.
Maybe everyone wouldn't be so hard on your team if your loud-mouthed owner wouldn't threaten to take his puck and go home whenever it happened to the Pens. If he truly wanted this type of crap out of the game he never would have re-signed Cooke, and had an internal fine for Bylsma for what happened in the final minutes against the Flyers last week. - golfingsince

The guy hadn't even started working out by July 1st, they signed Hamhuis instead. Nice try though. BTW, my buddy is Willy's neighbor in Tofino. - golfingsince
Cool, my moms friend cut Gretzkys hair in the 80's it doesn't mean I have inside information.
Mitchell signed with the Kings and has been fine ever since. Outside of other ailments, nothing concussion related though.
If he does it again, he is gone. I like the approach they took with him to set an example for others who walk the line and cross it too often. You can be a productive NHL player on a 3/4 line without intentionally being a buffoon and injuring people. Im not gonna say Cooke will never frank up again, but I hope he keeps up his solid play as displayed this season. He proved to himself and everybody else this year that he CAN do it. - Rawdog9755
How is it not hypocrisy for Cooke to be a "buffoon" for injuring people while your fellow fan Ben37 publicly states that he wants a penguin to injure another flyer in tomorrow's game? Just checking.
