but i thought simmonds was tough because he came back into the game when he got hit in the face with the puck. but he has wittle stitches in his face so you cant touch him
- pensfan44

Ahh. So eating a puck and coming back to play isn't tough in your book.

But I guess it is tough if a player goes after a guy with stitches and a swollen eye he can barely see out of, right?

Was Simmonds forced to fight like a gladiator thrown into the Colosseum? Did he have the option of not dropping the gloves and skating away vs engaging in the fight?

Dont even know where to start with this mess of a comment. First off if stephan didnt see that hit coming last second and try to sidestep it it would have been a far worst hit imo. He got caught looking at the ice and tried to save himself, almost did. Your reasoning for orpik not trying to make a big hit because "it was out near the blueline" while funny makes zero sense. Have a look at some of his highlights, he make a ton of open ice hits so......ya, theres that. And if jumping out of the way trying to save yourself from a huge hit classifies as a nice move then you must be new to hockey sir.
- StabMastaArson

Keep thinking that way, buddy. Keep thinking that any hit a penguin makes is simply an attempted "clean & hard hockey play that just went bad" when the other player gets injured & knocked out of the game (or worse, knocked out for several games). If it happened just once, you might be able to pass that crap off on people. But with it happening with increasing frequency lately, you can't honestly look yourself in the mirror and say that crap with a straight face. That was NOT a clean hit by Orpik, plain & simple. If you think otherwise, you must be new to hockey, ma'am.

Yes, Shero was whining. Lavs trying to fight someone was not "whining"...if anything, he was more of a man for trying to stand up for his players and do something about it instead of a wussy move like Dan B who hides behind his reading glasses & assistant coach. If Blysma wants to act like a tough guy and send out the 4th line with a minute left in a 3-goal game, then be man enough to answer for it...THAT'S a "childish act." And by the way...it's not just Berube that said that about Crosby & Malkin...those same comments have come from many other people around the league. Sometimes the truth hurts, "my friend"...and just because you can't handle it doesn't mean someone else is whining.
- shonoff95

Can we just retire this "childish act" & "gutless" crap about the Pens putting their 4th line out there? The flyers line on the ice that Lavi put out first had as many fighting majors and about 50 more total penalty minutes than the line Byslma put out. Don't act like Briere, Schenn and Simmonds are delicate flowers.

Hey genius, he missed most of the season with a concussion. He may have whined to his doctor. You need to talk to a shrink, need help.

Genius every game he plays. Focus on him after every play and you will see if look at the ref and whine. It is pretty sad actually. Genius

That doesnt answer my question. I thought I made my questions simple enough that a straightforward yes or no wouldve done just fine. What we would think is irrelevant. He had options and chose to fight. Given it was his choice, any player from any team shouldve tried to hit him as many times as possible during the fight.

Write a letter to your coach and have your team do something about it then.

LOL. Don't you love it when an obnoxious "know-it-all" fan makes a stupid comment and you're able to make him eat his words with a simple video clip that proves him wrong? Good job.

Please refer to my original response where I supplied a definition of whining. Professional MEN don't try and fight that is childish especially not at their place of employment. Hockey players having fighting in the job descriptions Coaches do not. So yes Lavi was childish in his behavior. You could say name calling is childish as well which is exactly what your player and assistant coach did. So I would say to call a team out for whining after your team just deployed some of the most childish antics is just laughable. Please try again

Its nice that you have something to hold onto, considering your squad hasn't won a single playoff series since 1993.

If you want an answer to your question, see Wolfhound's link to the VIDEO REPLAY of the encounter between the two. Then, once you're no longer an ignorant fan just spewing nonsense and actually know what you're talking about, come on back and we'll talk.

Looks to me like he skates right into the middle of a scrum and knew what he was getting into. Dont go to the kitchen unless you are hungry.

The Pens are 18-4-2 against the Islanders in their last 24 games against them. I'm sorry what were you saying about getting spanked?

Shouldn't you be on the Islanders blog discussing the goal of finishing in 13th place next year? It will be a tough task but I think your irrevelant team can do it! Good luck!!!

Watch the video. Initially he stays out of it, then he skates into the middle of it. Did he think they were having tea at center ice?

Im curious what "nonsense" I spewed? When he was initially staying out of the fight he could have skated to the bench, he didnt. Believe it or not he had an option not to fight by staying out of it.

How about YOU watch the video? Simmonds initially just tries to tie up a body and ends up taking TWO penguins (engelland & niskanen). His gloves are still on and he's just tying up an opposing player so his teammates don't get out-numbered. Then niskanen peels off to go after someone else and engelland starts punching simmonds in the back of the head. Good God, if you can't even see the truth when the VIDEO REPLAY is staring you in the face, there is absolutely no hope for you and no further discussion is needed!

He stays on the outside initially. He skates into the middle of a scrum. Dont tell me you and him dont know what happens when you skate into a scrum in a game that is out of hand. Yes, Engelland punches him in the back of the head. Simmonds at that point still didnt have to fight. Turtle if you dont want to get hit.
