So we go there from Philly last night and walked around a bit..what a view from the Pirates stadium. The three of us also almost got jumped by about 15 younger people but a cop drove by right as they were throwing a soda bottle at us..

Anyway..on to the game..If Im lavi Giroux, Timonnen, Jagr, Voracek are told to leave their skates on the bus. Same with Bylsma as he should not dress Crosby Malkin, Neal or Letang.. It sucks because as a hockey fan I want to see the best game but i also want to see these two teams as healthy as possible for the playoffs..

Flyers are pretty much already decimated by injuries, at least on the defensive front so we dont need anything additional.

Anyway..i hope no one from either team gets killed today and I can't wait for the playoffs.. Best of luck Pens and Go Flyers!

That's why I don't think anything will happen today... both of these coaches and teams know the long road ahead of them to their ultimate prize. No one wants to be the one who jeopardizes that.

Let's hope the Flyers settle the score with the fems today. What's with the Mac call up? Another classy move from truly classy organization. Your coach really is gutless. Like your team.

I expect the legally mandated minimum fireworks on the ice today. Maybe a goon fight or an Asham Rinaldo tangle, but only as a formality.

I don't know... I doubt it. If Mac & Shelley are in the lineup, all we are going to see from them is two irrelevant hockey "players" drop the gloves off of a faceoff, and each of them spend about 56 minutes of the game on their bench or in the box.

I mean who else on the Flyers (or the Pens for that matter) is stupid enough to do something to try to injure someone and get themselves suspended for the playoffs? Even if someone like Rinaldo did something stupid, he's a middleweight, Asham or Engelland could address that, and vice versa,

- rival22

I think we'll see a canned fight, not a lot more. I think they called up mac because of the last time another team wanted some sort of retribution. The only way Mac is in the lineup is if Lavi submits a roster with Shelly in it (which I think he will).

I'd like to think that nothing will happen in the game but I also realize that the Flyers probably feel that they have something to prove after the goon Joe Vitale laid that brutal beating on Briere.
- Ben37

Briere hasn't done poop all year, if only Vitale could have hit his 6million dollar cap hit off the roster.

The whole use of "Fem" is really sexist and kind of degrading to women. Do you believe that women are a lower class citizen than men. Why do you have to use women in a negative light in order to tear down the Penguins. You are just like Mike Milbury with his mysoganist insults about "skirts" and "Thelma and Louise". You really should go apologize to your mother/wife/daughter.

I've always thought of Briere and overrated and overpaid, but then they get to the playoffs and he suddenly becomes some kind of beast. He is the prime example of elevating his game for the second season.

Briere is absolutely overpaid by a bit. At that time, the Flyers had to overpay to get talent on the roster. His postseason resumé does speak for itself, though.

He was one the 'big 3' available FAs that summer, and was going to get paid by some team.

Still happy the Flyers snagged him instead of one of the other two.

Every team does it. We overpaid for Martin. Rangers overpay for everyone Gomez, Drury, etc.... If you take salary out of it they still make teams better.

+1, even if he's had a down year I still like Danny. I can live with the million or so on the cap I'd say he's overpaid for his postseason work and his veteran presence.

Martin didn't seem like an overpayment at first. Now yeah. But if he was making $3m we wouldn't complain.

That said, I traded him for Trevor Daly and Mark Fistric on NHL 12 as soon as Dallas offered it.

Absolutely. For GMs, signing big FA contracts in a capped world is a gamble. Choosing the right bidding war player is an art.

rangers fans have the average IQ of a tree. It baffles me to see how absent minded someone can be, and even when they were just proved wrong, they still think they are right.

Do the Rangers nominate someone new each day to come in here and whine about how whiny we are? FYI GioRock, you're not talking hockey and I won't continue reading your garbage all day.

I'm going to disagree with most about the game today. I think this is a throwback to how scores were settled in the old days and I think poop hits the fan. I am really uncomfortable with the thought of our better players dressing.

I know not all Rangers fans are nuts.. I have two friends who are Rangers fans... but both of them were born and raised in NYC, and have since moved out (Albany & Buffalo). They are both diehard fans, but can take their blue and red glasses off when they need to and see things with some perspective.

Maybe it's being subjected to the NY sports media 24/7 that gets to many of these vocal fans, and ones who don't pay much attention to it, or are out of the area can see things with a little more sanity.

The Steelers are sort of the same way... I moved out of Pittsburgh about 6 years ago, and while I still love the Steelers, I am thrilled that I am not subjected to it every second of every day during the season/playoffs.

The amazing this is that Briere is STILL overpaid. He signed that contract what about 4 years ago? You would think with inflation and cost of living increases his contract would start to look good eventually. Still though, he earns his money in April.
