Tomorrow's gonna be fun as a precursor to Round 1. It will definitely set the tone (as if one needed to be set).

Truthfully I'm not enamored with the Macintyre call up. I don't see the game getting out of hand. Seeds are set. The fireworks will start Wednesday.

I love it to be honest. The season is over and it's time to set the tone for the playoffs. To me it's now and 8 game series and its time to soften the Flyers up some for the playoffs. I would sit Malkin and Sid but guessing that Geno plays atleast.
- lloyd095

They should sit them both and call up another dman. Play 7 defensemen so when Engo heads to the box for fighting they arent down to 5D. Strait looked good on his call-up recently.

I doubt it will get out of hand, but I do expect a fight or two. These teams dislike each other and regardless of what occurred in the previous meeting the current one always has some potential for fireworks.

The only way that happens is if Shelley gets scratched by the Flyers. Then that sends the message that they just want to finish the season but I disagree Lavy was pissed. Mac is dressing if Shelley does.

This game doesn't matter so you don't need 7 D-men but you do need to make sure the Flyers aren't out for blood after losing 2 good players last meeting.

I don't know if Rinaldo and Simmonds qualify as a "usual cast" for the Flyers, considering one is a rookie and the other just arrived this season. Point stands, though (not that I have a problem with their PIMs, the three of them have done well this season).
- BulliesPhan87

If you count his minor league resume, Rinaldo is a usual cast. He has a little more still than Trevor Gillies, but he isn't know for putting the puck in the net whatsoever. He is known for one thing in hockey - that is fighting ... nothing else.

Predictions for tomorrow:

Total PIM's? 85
First fight? Vitale vs Rinaldo
How long until Macyntire fights the Flyers goon with 2 girls names? 10 minute mark of period 1
Does Shelley live through the experience? yes...more or less
Does Malkin dress? Yes
Outcome: Penguins 3-2 after Talbot stops at center ice and finally realizes "I can't believe I'm playing for these arseholes, turns around skates down and blows one by Bob

There is one reason and one reason only for having him in your organization...games like this. Might as well dress him and stick him out there on the 4th line. At least at that point it truly WILL be a good line.

"Here are two questions I'd like answered by hockey's intelligentsia. By John Tortorella, Peter Laviolette, and all the idiot Rangers and Flyers fans.
If the Penguins are sissies, how come they're the ones laying people out?
If the Penguins are whining, how come you're the ones female doging?

Tortorella, the Rangers coach, has every right to be upset by Brooks Orpik's hit on Derek Stepan. It was knee-on-knee. Reckless. But things happen very fast in hockey. And I bet Torts didn't lecture Mike Rupp back on Jan. 6 after Rupp knocked Jordan Staal out for a month with a similar check.
If I played against the Rangers, I'd blow up Torts every chance I could. It's a BLAST watching him explode: The facial tics, the histrionics, the theatrics. It's like watching an eight-year-old coach in the NHL.
I don't see the connection between Orpik's hit and the alleged whining perpetrated by Sid and Geno. Maybe I'm too close, but I don't hear the whining. I don't see the arrogance of the Penguins organization.
What I do perceive is a lot of jealousy on Tortorella's part, and a HUGE double standard.
I want to thank Torts, Laviolette, Daniel Briere, Craig Berube, Mike Milbury, Pierre McGuire and Martin Biron for an easy week of shows. Let's do it again next week!"

So a guy who goes by 'Emperor Filonius' goes on the internet and makes fun of the name of a professional hockey player with over 100 career fights. That's rich.

Really impressive that Neilson stayed up. Jody Shelley isn't going to get alot of sleep tonight!!!
- lloyd095

So let me get this straight. Jody Shelly has been in the NHL for 12 seasons. He has over 100 fighting majors in that time. Earlier this season he challenged and fought Zdeno Chara. But you think he's losing sleep because over McIntyre.

I know this is a stupid message board and you're exciting about a guy that mops up everyone in sight in the AHL. But please try for a little bit of reality.

That's up for debate. He chose his profession and has been well compensated for it. I'm sure he doesn't care about an internet post made by little ole me. I'm sure he appreciates you sticking up for him though Besides, after all the names we've heard the Penguins been called on your forums over the years, my little joke is tame.

And I'm sure Madden was making the same points after the hits that laid Crosby out, right? I know the dude is a mark (no pun intended) but everything is cyclical...they hit your guy, you hit their guy. There is nothing to report here (not that that has ever stopped Mark Madden from talking.)

And he doesn't hear the whining? The post-game interview in the Finals about the hats? Was that really so long ago?

I don't run the Flyers forums so I can't comment on that. A LOT of Flyers fans drive me nuts because they are idiotic barbarians who know nothing about the sport of hockey and can't see two feet past their own team. And you're right, I'm sure he doesn't care about an internet post.

But it's a respect thing. I don't know much about Steve McIntyre but I respect him because he puts his own well-being on the line to protect his teammates and I think that's admirable. Jody Shelly does the same thing. There is plenty of legitimate criticism you can lay at the feet of many 'enforcers' but I think that saying that a legitimate tough dude has two female names on an internet forum is bush league.

But hey, you have your opinion and I have mine.

I still think you are taking it a bit to seriously now that you've devoted 3 whole posts to the subject. Have you considered that maybe the fact that his parents gave him 2 female names is why he is so tough? Because lets face it, they didn't do him any favors there. Anyways, so now you've called me on it and made your point. Thanks for participating in our little corner of the world.
