I wouldn't care if he got claimed outside of the dead cap space next year. I wouldn't care if they recalled Leighton and he got claimed, the only concenr I'd have is the dead cap in the future, not that a bubble guy was lost on waivers.
- Jsaquella

Well the dead cap was implied. I figured people knew that though and didnt need the expalination... But yes we are on the same page... I could care less to lose Bart.. and since Leighton is UFA next year, as long as he wouldnt put the Flyers over the cap if he gets claimed this year, I dont care if they recall him either...

Some people might not have been aware he had another year on his contract. Leighton has no future cap implications. I doubt that teams would poach Bartulis, even with his miniscule cap hit.

Last year's last game day was so important in terms of who made the playoffs and seeding....

This year the only important games are LA and San Jose, and Florida and Carolina..

If Florida cant get a point out of the Carolina game, you have to figure the Rangers are going to tank thier game against Washington just to play Florida in the first round... It makes me sick....

Yea, when he was sent down he wasnt picked up, and with all the injuries, I dont see anyone picking him up anyway... But really, I dont think there is a need to recall him... Grossmann will be back, Bourdon and Lilja will be 6th or 7th, and Gus will be 8th... If you need to go past that... Manning did good enough you can recall him...

It makes you wonder what happened to him... Was it just Lavi's system... Playing with Briere... or did he take the pedal off the gas after he got paid...

In Detroit he was said to be a lazy player... saw it a few times here... It makes you wonder... I cant see that it was just Briere, because at times Lieno was playing with Buffalo's top lines... It either has to be his motovation or the System Ruff plays...

I'm sure part of it was that the line he was on here was the perfect fit for him. Once Ek anointed him as a future great player, I knew he'd be a bust.

He had one decent year and a playoff year. Not much history to warrant that contract.

Carle is soft. Hopefully he picks up his game for the playoffs as he's been average the last couple.

Anybody else annoyed that 2 of the top 3 teams in the East have to play each other in the 1st round? I mean, it's exciting as well...but it can be exciting and retarded, they aren't mutually exclusive.

And Saturday's game is probably going to be so boring...although Igor is going to try to score his 50th goal of the season on us. Not good.

A playoffs he entered without the battle fatigue of most players, at that. Not to say he isn't a talented players, but he was definitely overrated in the offseason.

Today is going to be a slow day, so why not discuss..... If JVR, Briere, and Grossmann come back healthy... What are your lines? How do you sit?

Hartnell-Giroux-Jagr
Read-Briere-Simmonds
JVR-Schenn-Voracek
Talbot-Couturier-Wellwood
Rinaldo (HS)

Carle-Kubina
Timonen-Coburn
Grossmann-Bourdon
Lilja (HS)

I think Wellwood gives that 4th line pop with scoring and is better defensively, and wont get any boarderline penalities Rinaldo would, and can play the PK... I like the way Bourdon plays and IMO it balances out the defense a lot better then keeping Timonen on the right side... Though I hated breaking up Grossmann-Coburn... otherwise you have to put in Lilja and keep Timonen on the right...

The playoffs start in 5 days and JVR is still in a boot. He's not playing, nor do they need him at this point. Rinaldo, and Wellwood have defined roles and should remain in the lineup based on their play. The bigger question is, if Briere cannot play who takes his place? Dressing an enforcer in the playoffs is a waste of time as we have seen, so I would guess Holmstrom would get the call.

Tough call on who to sit at forward. Rinaldo is the obvious candidate, but I feel like he may be useful against a Penguins team the Flyers have found success against when things get chippy. I'll wait to see what Lava does, there's a lot of options.

As for the defense, I'd also probably put Bourdon in the six spot and carry Lilja as the seventh. As for the pairings, I might put that Coburn-Grossman pairing back together, they did pretty well. Again, I trust Lava to sort that set out.

Holmstrom sounds likely if Danny isn't good to go. As for JVR, I certainly don't see him in for the start of this series. I think it's more likely we see him (Lord willing) back for the second round.

I sure hope with the new arena in Quebec, and the players vito of the new re-alignment, the whole idea dies because the playoff format would be aweful news for the "Atlantic" and "Central" conferences... We do know that next year Winnipeg will still be in the SE as Bettman said last year if the re-alignment wasnt in place by December (I think) they wouldnt be making any changes for next season... Hopefully the new Quebec arena is in place and the Coyotes will be moved east, causing just a slight re-alignment in the divisions.

Sounds about right to me. Once he is cleared for skating, which who knows when that happens, he has to get in game shape, that takes a while after missing 5 weeks.

I'm willing to bet Briere will be back... But if he isnt.. I would call up Zulnerzcyk and put Wellwood at center.

I like Bourdon in the 6th spot... But as far as I can tell he has just played the Right side for us... And if thats the case.. You know Kubina and Coburn play on the right as well... Meaning you will either have to play Timonen or Carle with Bourdon if you want to keep Grossman-Coburn together... and I dont think they will do that when Timonen-Coburn has just as good Chemistry...
