Is the playoff schedule set yet?
- bird_dog

I heard Wed/Fri in Pitt. That would make possibly Sun in Philly for game 3. I may have to work on the wife for tickets.

The playoff teams and matchups aren't even set yet. So no. Everything out there now is "probably" or "possibly."

I missed that. Did he knock him out? Regardless, I'd love for someone to tune him up..
- Hextall271

Hit him in the face with a shot, but didn't kill him.

I think that makes sense. Sit Timonen for a few days.. I think it will help him a lot. Give Bryz the start to try to get back in his groove. He needs lots of playing time..
- Hextall271

He looked good last night. But give him as many minutes as possible.

If he can't suffer further injury to his foot, I'd go with Bryzgalov, too. Get him the reps.

Somebody on twitter hinted that Bartulis got recalled, not sure if it was in jest.

- Jsaquella

To be honest... I was going to make a post about him the other day, and I completely forgot his name... and didn't want to look it up... Its been what 2 years since he played in more then 5 games?

Shelly is in because Briere is out, and these games are pretty much meaningless. Though to be honest I wouldn't have minded a loss last night with NJ winning.....
- RooNosHockey

I know, but we could have called someone else up. I would also have liked to see us lose and play Fla.

I think that's the recipe for him. Lots of minutes and he gets in a groove.

I'm sure Torts is playing this game now too b/c he wants to see the Flyers take out the Pens. He knows the Rags own the Flyers, it's all post season gamesmanship.
- flyguy12

Yea, its gamemanship, but he really was pissed, I dont doubt that.

He played 30 games in the AHL this year, but he has been banged up the last two years.

since Upshall took him out, he's been fighting a few injuries. If he's healthy that's another dman in regards to depth.
he should've never given me his jersey...LOL

the gamesmanship has been going on for years during the regular season and in the playoffs but the league still values their prized franchise. When malkin wasn't suspended for being 3rd man in, i knew the league office was a joke. Well, i knew it already but it was icing on the cake. the whole league has been saying it about the Pens but nothing is going to happen. It's time for playoff hockey.

I went through this with a rangers fan the other day. In addition to the tough schedule the rangers always seemed to catch us in as Bill pointed out in his blog 3 days ago or so.. I also went over all the injuries we had during those games... It was pretty significant.

Game 1:
Flyers Injuries: JVR, Jagr, Pronger, Lilja, Schenn

Game 2:
Flyers Injuries: Briere, Schenn, Pronger, Couturier

Game 3:
Flyers Injuries: Pronger, Jagr (Jagr played 1 period)

Game 4:
Flyers Injuries: Briere, JVR, Pronger, Lilja

Game 5:
Flyers Injuries: Bryzgalov, JVR, Pronger,

Game 6:
Flyers Injuries: Pronger, Briere, Grossmann, JVR, Meszaros

they have had better shoulder pad goaltending then the Flyers. that's really it. regardless of the injuries, the Rags made the important stops versus the Flyers goalie(s).

The issue is that he's got another year on his deal. If he gets nabbed, they have $300K in dead space next year because of it.

Yea, but if you add the tough schedule and the injury to key players together, you can kind of see why it seemed so easy for the Rangers to beat us all 6 games... As a matter of fact the 1 game where the injuries and schedule were almost a non-factor was the WC and it was a damn close game up to the last seconds of the game... So I would expect when all things are equal that we match up better then the 0-6 suggests.

I'm sure he envisioned 20 or so. Leino's not a bad player, but he was badly misused in his first season as a Sabre.
- Jsaquella

Completely agree, but I also think he found success as a product of Lavy's system and playing with Briere.

I think the Flyers have the ability to beat the Rangers in a seven game series. There's no denying that the Rags will be a tough out, though, perhaps the toughest out in the playoffs.

I wouldn't care if he got claimed outside of the dead cap space next year. I wouldn't care if they recalled Leighton and he got claimed, the only concenr I'd have is the dead cap in the future, not that a bubble guy was lost on waivers.

Yep. Buffalo tried to make him a center and seemed to want him to be a triggerman. He's not. He likes to dangle and pass, not shoot and drive the net.

They're not as run and gun as Laviolette's system can be at times. Meaning he's got to adapt to the system and a "new" position and style.

I hope Lava plays Bryz at least half the game, I don't like the idea of Bryz not playing in live game action for a week.
