That's only because RippedFuel hasn't been around since his meltdown a long while ago.

After reading all the tweets and posts about the Pens calling up MacIntyre, I was wondering if Matt Walker might not be a good 6th d-man for one game (that doesn't really matter). I'm not really sure how likely it is he'd be claimed with one game left, and whether it'd be worth the risk. But it seemed like an interesting idea. Would definitely boost the toughness and physical play.

Ok time to bet on who Sits Saturday's game!

Kimmo, Roo, Jagr, Bob gets the start

No question Timonen should sit. He's too important to our success. I missed Thursday's game and I've heard nothing on Briere's injury but healthy or not I wouldn't play him either.

Pick any team's third defenseman - they're all Matt Carle.

You are a Carle fan.

I thought Carle could turn into a better player, but he hasn't. He never developed that ability to step into the play offensively like a guy with his skill set should have. He's a good skater, he has gotten better positionally, is an above-average passer, and he stays healthy, which is nice, but he's not a guy that regularly affects the game. His hockey sense is average, he has no physicality, shoots like a blind baby from the point, and doesn't win board battles.
I have no idea of any of Carle's numbers, or where they rank him in the league. It doesn't matter. Numbers are numbers - they don't do anything. Players do.
He doesn't make enough of a positive impact on the ice to justify the cap hit. Maybe in a fantasy league, he is really really great, but in real life...he's OK.
I'd be fine keeping him at his current cap hit.

If you think he has produced as a top 20 d-man in the league, I can only hope some other team's GM (preferably in the East) agrees with you. I would much rather play against a $5 mil Carle, than try and win a Cup with one.

So any team's 3rd defenseman doesn't regularly affect the game? Name me some names that bring what Carle does cheaper, and we'll start there. Then we'll actually look at the facts.

Here's one simple fact. Carle led all NHL defenseman in ES points last Season, and again is in the top 10 in the NHL in that category. But yet you say he hasn't developed that ability to step into the play offensively. LOL

Carle is an above average defenseman, and that's good, but I don't believe he is worth $5 million per.

He's not that big, he's not that fast, he's soft, almost never hits, and all of his stats for the season speak to a dependable player you can usually rely on to get the job done, but who isn't elite in any particular area.

MAB (22) is Carle (27) in a couple years.

Carle is good, he's durable, but $5 million per is too high.

Soft defenseman don't lead their team in icetime. Good luck having MAB match Carle as a player in a couple of years.

Elite defenseman make much more then 5M a year.
