Jagr and Voracek would probably cost around $6 million total, although it depends on how long of a deal the latter signs.

2.5 and 3.5?

Nothing others haven't already said.

Cost him 20G's. He doubled up on Laviolette.

Joe Corvo, Colaiacovo, Campoli, and Aucoin are some other guys we might consider.

I would guess that Jagr would like to play one more season, and he has already alluded the fans to believe that he would only play for us if that were the case. I don't think money is going to be an issue there.

I really want to hang onto Voracek as well.

My guess on what Homer will do is re-sign the above and probably sign a 2nd or 3rd pair guy, someone like an Oduya. He's not a guy I like a whole lot, but it's just an example. Hopefully Pronger will be able to recover, but that's still a long ways away. The recent optimism is promisng though, and there's nothing I would like to see more than him suit up again.

I think Wellwood has earned a spot on next years team with his very solid play. Flyers need to have some guys with small cap hits making contributions and Wellwood fits that bill.

I think Voracek will be back, he's had a nice season. He's responsible defensively and although he struggles finishing sometimes he's still very young. I don't think Jagr will be back, simply based on age. Can't take a chance committing 3.5+ million to a guy that is that old. I think the Flyers will give JVR every chance to replace Jagr on the top line.

Hoody-hoo! Grossmann jersey-buying plans have commenced.

Maybe it doesn't cost 3.5 for Jagr to come back.

So you think they will re-sign Carle or no?

Yea, I don't think it will. He said in an interview that money wouldn't hold up him returning for another season if he wanted to.

As Pens fans are quick to tell you, Jagr says things and they don't necessarily come to fruit. I don't care. It's all negotiating. But I would like to see him back one more year and here. I know he is thinking about having kids and doesn't want to do that while he is still playing.

I would love to see him back as well. He's done a nice job for us, and I love watching him play.

Foppa said similar things as well, so I understand your point.

Nope. FA crop of dmen is pretty much slim pickings outside of Suter, and Wideman. Carle is probably # 3 on the list right now. I expect some GM will offer him somewhere in the neighborhood of 5.5-5.8 range, essentially pricing the Flyers out of the bidding.

Jagr has been great. He has been positive in every way here this Season. My view is that after you do everything you need to do as far as the future, if there is Cap space left over, you bring him back. If not, thanks for a good year.

They would have to make a deal to free up future Cap space to sign Carle now. I believe that Carle is going to test Free Agency. That's been clear for a while. I'm expecting the Grossmann deal to be around the 3.2M cap hit range, give or take. That's a quality signing. I'm very pleased that they are retaining him.
- MJL

No doubt. I think this team will move forward without Carle. They have some depth but guys like Grossmann, mez, coburn, mab will have to pick up the slack.

Well he's posted a very respectable 55 point season. Do you expect him to take a pay cut?

I can't answer whether the Flyers would be willing to sign him to a deal like that. But that Cap hit does not price the Flyers out of the bidding.

I wouldn't consider it impossible. Of course, I don't have a vision of him taking an insultingly low offer. He could also be re-signed to replace a forward if we opt to include one in a trade.

Would you guys be in favor of a coach's challenge in the NHL? How would you set it up?

To me, I like video reply to get calls right. I would give each coach 3 challenges a game... You can challenge a call against you... For example if a ref calls a high stick, but it so happens to be the stick of a team-mate and not the opponent, the penalty would be reversed and there would be a face-off at center ice.

You could also throw a flag during play if the coach sees something the ref's did not, such as a high stick to a player, too many men on the ice, etc... The play would immediately stop, and the play reviewed... If the Coach wins the challenge the penalty is called..

Here is the catch. People will say that coaches will use this all the time and 3 per coach is 6 per game... and would slow the game down drastically. My idea to keep this from happening is to issue a 2 minute bench minor for delay of game if you lose the call. Now the coaches have to take into consideration how close the call is, or if the cameras have a good view of the call to over turn it. If your already assessed a penality and you lose... now its a 2-man advantage... If your trying to go to the PP and lose... now your on the PK. So its likely the challenges will only be used in sure situations.

- RooNosHockey

Or here's an idea. If the refs consistently don't do their job correctly they get publicly fined and then fired. And it should be the same in all sports. Refs that make the game about them need to go.
