Also, the formality of the names on the NHL awards is something that helps set hockey apart from all other pro sports. I remember as a kid feeling a sense of mystery around the awards, and I think that helped add a bit of significance to them. It made them seem ancient, like they had history. It also makes the curious fans want to explore that history, and that's only good for hockey.

My biggest criticism of those in power in hockey is that they're always trying to fix something that isn't broken. Stop pouring fuel on the fire, for god's sake.

I see no reason to pay tribute to the founders of the game anymore. While we're at it let's change the name of the Stanley Cup to Super Cup.
