Wow, you guys really have trouble with your reading comprehension, huh? I never said it was "ok" for someone to retaliate with a cross-check from behind. It's a penalty and should be called as such...in this case, it was going to be called but then got wiped out due to the video review on Sullivan's 2nd goal. What I SAID was that #1, Crosby initiated the confrontation with Schenn, not the other way around...and #2, if someone (ANY player) is willing to dish out the hacks, slashes, & hits away from the play (like 87 did), he has to expect retaliation and be able to take it. Isn't that last point EXACTLY what you guys "piss and moan" about all the time when people call Crosby "Dirty"???...you defend him and say that he's just "responding" (i.e. RETALIATING) to all the shots he takes from the other team and that's why he slashed Giroux 3 times after that one face-off and knocked his stick out of his hand while Giroux just stood there???? Yep, that's exactly what you say. So how is it any different? Talk about "pissing and moaning"...you want Crosby to be able to "defend himself" (by retaliating against people who take shots on him), but then if someone else does the same exact thing to him after he initiates it, all of a sudden you cry foul. It's a two-way street, folks...you can't have your cake and eat it, too. - shonoff95
That is exactly what happens to Crosby and Malkin all the time, and Crosby yaps at the refs an aweful lot, but with the camera on him so much it is picked up all the time. If they had an iso cam on certain players in every team you would see the stick work they do and the female doging they do about it being done to them.
Funny, I said the same thing (that it wasn't a big deal) 2 days ago. But apparently there are some Penguins fans who still have hurt feelings because someone dared to respond to 87 and push back when he dished out a hit away from the play. (Oh yeah, and then there was that one genius fan of yours who said that everything started when Cobourn cross-checked Crosby, so the record needed to be set straight on that.) The whole "whining and complaining" thing applies to both fan bases...Pens fans are some of the worst when it comes to trying to protect 87 & 71 when they dish out cheap shots or hits away from the play (and usually get away with it)...they say that they're just "sticking up for themselves" and therefore it's acceptable. But then when the shoe is on the other foot, all of a sudden Schenn is such a meanie for daring to touch 87 and is the culprit behind the whole melee at the end of the last game. LOL, it's so laughable. - shonoff95
Crosby may have started it with his own dirty work and skated off, but Schenn just picked a bad spot and time to get his own in.....
If he had picked a better spot or time (either in another shift or another game) then I dont think the brawl would have started.
At least that is how I saw it, no one here has said Crosby doesnt do what he has been accused of doing, just the manner in which he was retaliated against.
I can't believe nobody got my Grassy Knoll reference...
I know Kennedy's assassination isn't funny...even all these years later...but as an explanation to where the shot came from that took down Letang, I thought it was decent... - icedog97
I got it, but kinda hard to comment on everything in here, 6 hours later
If the Penguins lost a game on a play like Letang's, Mario would be writing a stern letter to the NHL about the integrity of the game and wondering if he should be a part of it anymore.
For a hockey fan to say "well done" about that play is laughable to me, but I respect your opinion. With that said, the Penguins look like a very dangerous playoff team right now and it is good to see their concussed players return to playing. The Staal line does their job perfectly and are pretty fun to watch.

Hell if Letang does something like that in the playoffs we could get burnt very badly by it. They may ignore the penalty and tag him for diving.... How would you feel if yhou cost your team an OT game due to your dive?

It's tough to say that the Bruins lost the game on that call. I mean it was in the second period. Yes it was a terrible call, but there was a lot of hockey left at that point.

Oh you're absolutely right. The pens have never had the outcome of a game effected by a poor call. Next time will be the first and will definitely be followed by a whiny letter from the owner. Moron. It happens to everyone. Sucks. Get over it.
