Word is that playoff tickets are becoming very limited as well.
This is the best thing I've heard. Whether we play the wings or hawks, I'd much rather see more gold than red--the bandwagoner fans of each, that is. We really need to sell these games out before the playoff seeding is set in stone.
Bizarro Stat of the day – The Predators are 31-15-3 when Roman Josi is in the lineup, 14-11-5 when he isn’t.
I've said it before, I'll say it again: Josi settles down the entire defense. Next to Webs and Suter, he is the most important defensive player we have....or at least tied with Klien for that honor.
And, yes, the ice sucked last night. They will have it fixed by the time the playoffs come. The MASSIVE de-humidifers they usually have in the attched garage are not there now. I have parking passes there, and was told when ordering my parking passes for the playoffs that the parking in the attached garage will be limited for the playoffs because they are bringing in the MASSIVE de-humidifiers. So, it'll be fixed. |

I'm not saying this to be a troll. Im just curious. Why have the only sold out 24 games? They have been a pretty good (great this year IMO) team the last 3 seasons and play pretty darn good hockey. I would have thought they would have no problem selling out this year. I know TN isnt the biggest hockey crazy state, but hockey does tend to have a loyal and cult following which can fill up places since hockey arenas are pretty small compared to other sports. Im just surprised that the number wasnt higher. Bandwagoners? or are people just starting to enjoy the sport as we do?
Dont get me wrong, the Hawks def have bandwagoners - HajdukChicago

side note to the attendance thing.
Went in to Richard's SG at Charlotte West this weekend and I didn't see a stitch of Predators gear anywhere. Same thing at Academy Sports in Cool Springs other than a pathetic little half assed display by the exit..
Plenty of UT and Titan crap. Really makes me wonder sometimes. Other than Sports Seasons none of the so called Sporting Goods stores seem to give a hoot. - coaster28
Ive found several Preds items at Academy Sports, some hat store in the mall, and I even saw some stuff at wally's world all in Chattanooga.
I guess I was wrong, about the Preds laying back and surrendering 4th place, and coasting into the playoffs. I usually hate being wrong, but this time I'm happy.

Nice to hear that Lombardi played enough games for us to earn that 4th round pick. I like later-round picks as it seems that the better-run organizations who know how to find and then develop hidden gems tend to do quite well with them. (Wings and Preds come to mind.)
Glad Lombardi played w/out major injury but for those who gnashed teeth over the salary dump deal that sent him and Fruit Cup to the Leafs, I submit 8 goals + 10 assists and -18 for Lombo and nothing spectacular for Franny. I'll definitely take what we have now over either of those for many reasons, not just the superior stats for our current guys. |

Wilson not at pratice today?!?!? - buelleo
Per John Glennon:
"Trotz on absence of few players, including C Wilson: Several, including Wilson, skated early. Trotz wanted to trim large numbers in practice"
Now Wilson not even practicing with the team

There have been a couple of stinkers for us in the 4th round but then again we also got:
Craig Smith
Mattias Ekholm
Mark Santorelli and
Jordin Tootoo |

Drafting is such a crap shoot. Hornqvist was hockey's version of Mr. Irrelevant. Weber was taken AFTER Klein. Legwand was #2 overall. You just never know. |

As much as I hate what's happening to Wilson, the only thing that matters now is how far we get in the playoffs. The playoffs have typically been Trotz's Kryptonite. I think it's really important for this franchise to at least make it to the Western Conference Finals this season. If they can't do it with the pieces they have in place right now I'm going to wonder if a Trotz coached team ever can. |

Chances Wilson is traded by the draft? Does it depend on #47 re-signing here? |

I think it depends on whether he's butting heads with the coach or not. Seems like he is, but that's just speculation on my part. I am just not convinced that having Brandon Yip or Jordin Tootoo in the lineup over Wilson is what's best for the team. That's why I tend to speculate.
Wilson is a 1st or 2nd line talent that's been relegated to the 3rd and 4th lines. I don't know what Trotz wants him to do. His interview regarding Wilson this morning seemed a little disingenuous to me, and what I liked the least about what I heard is that he didn't even sound like HE believed it. There was a lot of stuttering and repeating the same comments about how Wilson's game has slipped. When was that? When he was the only guy on our team scoring consistently over a two week stretch in March? I just don't get it.

A bit early to start talking about this stuff, but i'll put in my 2cents.
Rads will go through arbitration this summer and get a one year deal at 5m.
I think 33's fate depends on AK46 resigning.
I believe they will let AK46 and Yip walk unless AK just lights it up in the playoffs. If that happens then 33 will get/take a one year deal and burn bridge over the cumberland river on his way out of town the following summer.
If AK does resign then 33 is traded for 2nd and a conditional 4th at the draft.
SK74 will take the team to Arbitrationl, trying to get a raise he does not deserve. 1 year at the same amount or a touch higher.
Goose will be gone.
Hillen and Bullion will get walking papers this summer also. Bullion might get one more year if Gill does not resign. |

By "let walk" you mean without compensation? Like Ryan Suter let walk without compensation? Really?

I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but I'd really like to see what Wilson could do on the line with Rads. I truly believe he'd be better there than AK. |

Interesting stat (to me, anyway): if Trotz were to coach the team to the Cup this year, he would move up into a 10-way tie for first place in Stanley Cup wins for active coaches...
Marc Crawford, Colorado 96
Ken Hitchcock, Dallas 99
John Tortorella, Tampa Bay 04
Peter Laviolette, Carolina 06
Randy Carlyle, Anaheim 07
Mike Babcock, Detroit 08
Dan Bylsma, Pittsburgh 09
Joel Quenneville, Chicago 10
Claude Julien, Boston 11
How many of those coaches could take our line-up this year and beat the team that won the Cup for them? I'd venture to say maybe Carolina from a skating standpoint, but Cam Ward stood on his head as a rookie back-up goalie (and he wasn't the starter until Gerber lost the first two games in Round 1 to Montreal). Every other team that won a Cup under an active coach had some impressive talent, including several current or no-brainer future HoFers.
I don't know that I'd want any other current NHL coach behind the bench...I believe Trotz has done more, with less, than any coach in the league. |

Trotz has been given the pieces for a deep playoff run this year. If they get bounced in the first round, he needs to go! That's a coaching problem - not a player problem. |

It's going to take way more than a coach to get past Detroit, Vancouver, St. Louis etc. in the playoffs. We have just as good as chance as anyone, but it's not going to be easy. Trotz can't get out there and score a goal, or keep some out of our net. |
