A little reminder from the Preds blog:

Lombardi played in his 60th game of the season Tuesday, resulting in the Predators getting the Maple Leafs’ fourth-round pick in the 2013 draft.

- Barx

Lombardi had to play 60 games over the 2 seasons... I believe ... either way, the pick was gone pretty much the day the trade went down

It has nothing to do with being homers. Their combined age is 236 - they can't see anything.

Yeah i know Jeanerette was around when i was living in Fort Erie as a kid. The Dude sucked then and now he sucks even more.

The ONLY thing I like about Lombardi is that his speed can often create a bit of scramble on the opposing teams defensive end.

Unfortunately, he, nor his linemates can do anything with that opportunity.

HD TV is good, but not good enough for you to to see exactly what the Ref can or can not see.

The ref also doesn't have to call the whistle the moment he loses sight of the puck, if that was the case the game would be stopped everytime a puck hits a black pair of goalie pads.

- Oilhab

Care to retract this statement?

RULE 85.3 Puck Out of Sight:

Should a scramble take place or a player accidentally fall on the puck and the puck be out of sight of the Referee, he shall immediately blow his whistle and stop the play. The puck shall then be faced-off at the nearest face-off spot in the zone where the play was stopped unless otherwise provided for in the rules.

AGAIN, the ref's reaction to the puck being in the net WAS DELAYED and therefore lost sight of the puck and should have blown the whistle as per Rule 85.3.

A guy scratched half the time?
- AdamFrench

seriously? when talking about a 4th round pick? he's not the only under 25 defenseman to ever be a scratch.

lebda, slaney and a 4th for lombardi and franson wouldn't really classify as mismanagement.
franson could still turn out.....

No doubt. When I first heard him, I was shocked at how bad he was, and how big a homer he was. But I got used to him, and started taking him for what he is.

So Burkie is running out of contract spots, and I think he'll package guys for upgrades.

Don't shoot me, but i'll throw this out there. Realistic or not.

Nah man, not what I'm referring to.

Considering that Lombardi played his 60th game yesterday and that he's missed 20 games already this season, I'm pretty the Leafs could have found a way to ensure that Lombardi didn't reach the 60 game mark and ultimately cost the Leafs a 4th rounder in 2013.

Lombardi will likely play 62 this season.

Nope, won't retract it, like as it is up to the refs discration as to when the puck is out of sight, just like every rule in the book.

It's not an instantanous reaction, if it was, too many plays would be called dead way to quick and there will never be a sramble in front of the net. a ref will "lose" sight of the puck all the time and multiple different reasons, but if he is able to pick it up again, or a glimpse of it again before he can decide to blow the whistle then play goes on.

try refing a game, and blow your whistle every time you can't see the puck, not just infront of the net but every single time you lose it and do it instantanously, along the boards, when there are too many players in front of you, when the puck is flipped too high in the air, just blow it down and see how long you last.

The ref said he saw the puck

This is the wording I read

The Predators will also get a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2013 entry draft if Lombardi plays 60 or more games over the next two seasons.

I'm going to say that the refs used discretion in that scrum last night because of the fact scrivens was shakey handling the puck all night and the refs were allowing the Sabres to take extra shots at him after the whistle even when he had it covered.

Its April and in April it means playoff hockey which means more things are let go. As a fan you just have to suck it up and let it go. Not like it caused the Leafs to miss the playoffs or anything.
