Umm, so why is it people write stuff like this?

The Owner/GM/Dictator goes on TV and says he'll be back and inwhich was one of the only questions he gave a real answer to... and you for some reason think he may have a trick up his sleeve. What does he need to do to make it more clear for fans like you, give him a 15 year contract?

brilliant post.

lets play devils advocate...lets say im right (obviously highly unlikely, i know) and wang does in fact want to fire cappy (or garth), if he went into that interview and answered the question "both cappy and garth will be fired once this season is done", what would be the advantage of that? what would happen for the remainder of this season? who would coach?

why would he ruffle feathers and cause himself to scramble for a replacement now (weight is not the option in this hypothetical scenario unless he is the coach year) when everyone is relatively calm AND when it is MUCH more acceptable to fire a coach/gm during the off season as opposed to 5 games left in a playoffless season.

please tell me (vukota, feel free to answer that as well)

I agree with what you're saying but since they just fired Gordon last year there is no way they are getting rid of Cappy before they go into another tail spin next year

I agree with your assessment as to why he wouldn't say it publicly. I also believe Capuano (I can't type Cappy anymore. It seems like a name you would call someone you like) will be back until they go on a long losing streak and then he gets the axe. Of course I'd rather they not go on that long losing streak but I'm just being realistic.

Dude this is Charles Wang we're talking about... if he doesn't wanna answer a question, He Doesn't. This is the KING of the tiptoe around questions, he's been doing it for years now with the media, politicians and the public in so many forms.... but here you are trying to make it sound like he couldn't say something more like "every summer we look to improve our team and when the time comes to weigh our options we'll do that"

And SERIOUSLY..... The remainder of the season??? WHAT the 4 games they had left.... come on guy you're really reaching now. So I guess firing Gordo with all that time left in the season is what ruined last year, eh?

it should be noted that youre on an island here...everyone agrees (other than you) that nothing is set in stone.

youre more set on arguing a point then actually reading what i said, nowhere did i say gordon being fired was the reason why the isles lost and i clearly never said that if they fired capuano that would be the reason why the isles lose.

all i said, is that there is no advantage to it....again...ill go back to my questions which you conveniently failed to answer any of...WHATS THE ADVANTAGE OF DOING IT NOW? and WHO WOULD TAKE OVER?

By the way, I think Justin Bourne must be a fan of your stuff. In his LaFontaine piece yesterday, he wrote:

Instead, both Wang and Snow have conspired to run good people out of the building, media, ex-players and fans. They push Isles propaganda, but it comes off more as “Kim Jong Il had 11 holes-in-one en route to shooting 38 under” than anything else. The truth keeps coming out.

I dont think Crappy had any say.........Snow called the shots, and didnt wanna pay Haley. Its a money thing.........i'd bet money on it. There is no way Michael Haley shouldnt have been on this roster all season.
- kindlyrick

He did'nt want to pay him but Rolston and Mottau and Padawful are OK? These guys could've been demoted and still counted against the cap, it makes no sense. You may be right as far as Cappy is concerned but its all speculation.

I honestly believe that Snow is trying to be a man of his word. I feel like he promised certain guys playing time, and as a result guys like Haley were left out. This is what happens when you are a no name in the business and trying to start from the ground up. Snow has nothing else but his word....
- kindlyrick

You are assuming and speculating again which is fine, we all do but what about the promise he made to the fans?

Who would coach, like it matters?? There were 4 games left. Cappy hasn't coached all season, He could stand on the bench or read a book with his legs up and let JT come up with everything. Also what would it matter even if Wang came out and said he's done after this season or we're gonna try to bring in a coach with NHL experience. 4 facking games.... Knowing how Wang likes to do things he woulda made John Grahame the head coach for the last 4 games and Cappy Garth's new advisor.

once again I'll state what I said to you....

This is the KING of the tiptoe around questions, he's been doing it for years now with the media, politicians and the public in so many forms.... but here you are trying to make it sound like he couldn't say something more like "every summer we look to improve our team and when the time comes to weigh our options we'll do that" Do you comprehend what I mean by any of this?? Here allow me to break it down for you... Wang doesn't go on TV and endorse or affirm the coach is coming back unless he is, if he wasn't Chucky spins and deflects it like everything else he's done over the years and would've given an answer like above in quotations

WHATS THE ADVANTAGE OF DOING IT NOW? and WHO WOULD TAKE OVER? you can't be serious with this? What does it matter? you make it sound like IF Wang did fire Cappy or even Snow for arguments sake like this would ruin the Isles season with 4 games left.... Christ skippy didn't the Canadiens just fire Pierre Gauthier as GM. OMG who took over?? what was the advantage to it ?? But Geoff Molson wouldn't have said his job was safe and he'll be back next season on TV then can the guy over the summer, when you know you're gonna fire someone you fire someone, Hell thats 1 thing Wang has shown he'll do very well so far.

"nothing is set in stone".. No crap!! and the Islanders technically have a shot at signing Zach Parise this summer, but it ain't happening... so lets come back to reality and use logic... this is Wang, He said Cappy will be back on air... which means there's a 99.9% chance that he will be back. instead of pulling...

You said "but i dont trust wang as much as you do apparently...just because he said capuano is coming back doesnt mean its set in stone"

Seems to me you're the one that does have trust in Wang

Garth Snow felt like he needed vets to be on this team. His only option were the "tryout" players, who im sure he begged and pleaded to come to camp with the promise of ice time. Garth has had a major problem getting guys to come here. Perhaps he feels the word will get out, that he is a man of his word, and that the islanders arent so bad after all. This is my take on it.......but unfortunately by bringing these guys in, it left guys like Haley on the back burner. The tryout players were signed to one way deals....and the isles were not about to pay Haley also. It was a numbers game.........and we all agree it was a mistake.

Obviously im speculating using phrases like "i feel and i believe". Truth is, we all expected this team to do better. I dont think they purposefully sucked, but the last minute signings of the "tryout" players were the demise. This team would have been better off with the bport players, then Rolston, Reasoner, Pandolfo, and the rest of the old bums.

I definitely did not expect this team to do better and I don't know how anyone could? I don't think I'm in the minority in the real world with this notion?

There were so many times the ship could've been at least attempted to be bailed out instead of sinking. It was beyond obvious what this team needed and did'nt need, even after the money aspect would'nt have had any affect on anything, salary cap wise, or otherwise, there was nothing done? It wasn't a "mistake". It was a GM thinking he knew better than everyone else on the face of the earth, this is nothing new. They guy is completely inept. He should not be GM of this eam or any other team for that matter. Rolston was played continuously and sucked up a great deal of PP time. Reasoner got decent minutes and scored his first goal three days ago???? Pandawful is terrible, words can't describe... Its a joke. This team got its ass kicked physically(and otherwise most of the time)just about every night. I bet Haley would've scored more goals than Rolston with no PP time, we all knew this. He would've brought much needed toughness. Forget about Reasoner and Pandalfo.
Gimme a break, there is no excuse for any of these decisions or lack there of except stupidity. Plain and simple. Snow is an absolute joke, wake up. There is no excuse for any of this shat.

He does need vets on the team, but he needs good ones, not skells and bums like Rolston, Reasoner and Panolfo. He needed ones who could actually contribute on the ice as well as in the locker room. If he can't land vets that can contribute in both areas, he might as well have his prospects play, provided that they aren't out of their league playing in the NHL, like Nino clearly was this year.

As for Haley, I like what he brings to the team, but he's becoming a one-trick pony. All he does is fight and take penalties. He's got to do more than that to warrant a spot on the team. He's got to be an agitator, draw penalties instead of take them all the time. Maybe even pot a goal or two. He has the ability to do those things, he just doesn't do them on a nearly consistent enough basis.

He hits too...something rarely anyone on this team does consistently besides Martin.
