I bought a laptop when I started Uni about 5-6 years ago...toshiba...things a dinosaur but runs google and spider solitaire like NOBODYS business!!

Burke absolutely has the team going in the right direction....but are we calling it the right direction because it's better then what we're used to or because it's actually a plan that will turn out to be a stanley cup contending team?


Burke did two high level things wrong:
1) Said he wasn't interested in a 5 year rebuild, thus removing any patience the fans were willing to have
2) Rant about truculance and testosterone and then add none

If I added a 3rd, it would be (like you said) leaning too much on Dion right off the bat and acting like he was a savior for this franchise.

All his draft picks and younger players are they.

His big mistake was the 5 year rebuild comment. He also overpaid some free agents which I don't fault him too much for. They were sought after guys. The players haven't even been close to living up to expectations. I think he should have cut them loose for whatever he could get at the deadline.

I appreciate the sentiment... but "character" on the Leafs?

"Character" may, in fact, be the biggest deficiency on the Leafs.

As someone you guys all look up to around these parts....I take blame for some of the Leafs failure this year. I should have tried much harder to voice my concerns at the starting at the season that Gus and Reimer wouldnt work....and for that I am sorry I let you guys down.

From here on out, I promise that next time I see a disaster waiting to happen, I will do everything I can to get the word out!!

It's a ridiculous comment from a borderline bigot (Cherry). The Leafs have drafted more Ontario born players then any other team in the league since Burke arrived. What was he supposed to do, sign Ontario born UFA's simlpy cause it's cute and they're available. Hell no, he signed who he believed was the best available player that he could get at the time.

And I agree with what was already said about the free agent signings...at the time they were uncontested signings save for maybe Connolly, but that was a stop-gap with some potential.

My first reaction to this was that I was glad he did it...then I realized...WTF was he trying to prove? He's just acting like a tough guy by strong arming people into answering questions that there are no answers to, he simply makes himself look like an ass. What does he expect Schenn to say? We aren’t good enough...? So what does that prove?

The only one who should have answered differently is Phaneuf. Phaneuf should have said something along the lines of "it starts with me, I'm the captain and I am supposed to be the leader of this team by leading by example and getting the guys motivated and I did not deliver on that, I take full responsibility" even if that's not the full reason, it's his job as Captain to take the fall for the team and not do the typical "you lose as a team and you win as a team" crap.

Nobody forced people to spend $400 for a seat, people made that decision themselves.

This city is full of Leafs fans and lacking true hockey fans that know what to expect from a young team. Half these guys are 23 or less and not any where near their prime. There's no franchise player, no #1 centre, no #1 goalie and until semi-recently with Carlyle, there was no system in place for defense.

To expect anything more then exactly what is happening right now is just plain foolish and so very typical of people who are just Leafs fans and not real hockey fans.

Burke is the only one that needs to stand up and say "I thought I had put together a good team, I thought our goaltending was stronger then it was, I take the blame for this season and we will put forth every effort to improve amd make sure we challenge for a playoff spot".

I loved it, the boys couldn't dig through their memorized 'book of lame ass excuses and cliches' that their agents gave them for their 18th birthday.
Every player in that room deserves to be on the hot seat and held accountable.
Youth and inexperience is no excuse for lack of effort and determination. They played with absolutely no heart whatsoever. A gutless and pathetic display of incompetence.
Every player and executive associated with the Leafs should be as ashamed and embarrassed as I am to be a fan.
