So, why the non-stop hatred?

Are you saying that we have, at this moment in time, won the trade?

Now THAT'S interesting coming from you.

i think he means hes worth the picks, not that hes worth seguin and hamilton and knight

Are you capable of reading something and actually being able to comprehend it?
- Unholy_Goalie

Please elaborate on this comment for us:

"Kessel, right now, is worth as much or more than what we got him for."

I take it to mean that you believe that Kessel is currently worth more than the price we paid for him. In other words, the asset we have to today is worth MORE than the assets we used to acquire him.

Result: net gain. Are we not to define that, at this very moment in time, as a "win"?

But feel free to give us your interpretation.

I think it has to do with the population figures. Just like hockey dominance.

Except that those picks aren't picks anymore. They are concrete assets. As of draft day 2011, they are known commodities, not abstract concepts.

A little logic:

"Kessel, right now, is worth as much or more than what we got him for."

what we got him for = Hamilton, Seguin, Knight

Therefore, it necessarily follows that: Kessel is, right now, worth as much as Hamilton, Seguin, and Knight.

Feel free to add your own interpretation, but it seems pretty straightforward to me.

Marcus Foligno was a human wrecking ball, knocked Gunnarsson out of the game, the Leafs had a 3-0 lead, they blew it, lost in OT. They can't win nor can they lose properly. Nothing new.

Since everything else you had was irrelevant, let's talk about Dougie Hamilton.

17 goals, 72 points, +37.

2 playoff goals, 8 playoff points.

As a defender.

Glad we don't have him in our system.

You are the one who said - and once again I quote directly: "Kessel is, right now, worth as much or more than what we got him for" (aka. Hamilton + Seguin + Knight)

I'm simply debating you using yor own position.

If by next year we haven't made the POs, then BB will be gone, and whoever steps in will prbably deal Kessel before the end of his contract.

At that point he probably will have yet another 30+ goal season under his belt before the age of 25 and have a decent final year on his cap.

That will make for a good chip.

I like Kessel, but if by next year we haven't put together a full 82 game season that means something, then yes, he along with Grabs can go, though Grabs probably won't fetch much with that cap hit

Kessel should be shopped hard this summer to see if we can shake loose a core #1 centre.

And Lupul too. Sell them together if you have to. Maybe if they're lucky they can find a taker for Phaneuf and they can do it properly this time around.

In my opinion, you'd be trading to address a deficiency and leaving the same glaring hole in your top 3.

A centre with no supporting top 6 is just as futile as having one top 3 winger. At least our winger is tied for 5th overall in the NHL in points.

I can't see any possible move for any available centre out there that isn't a lateral move at best when dealing Kessel.

That's Burke. Who else could finish 24th, 29th, 22nd and 25th and still get praised like a God for his infallibility?

His Holiness is wise to pick up on the population trends of America.

This team is dying on the vine without a #1 Centre and a #1 Goaltender. Those players are building blocks, core pieces. Kessel, though a good goal scorer, is not a franchise type core player to build around.
